Here are a few things that I'd like to see happen for television in the coming new year:A satisfying end to Battlestar Galactica
At first I'd say that we have little to worry about, since this series has been so incredible thus far. However, there's still that tinge of fear that, once this show's finale airs, fans are left disappointed or left hanging. I believe Ron Moore indicated that there would be no big unresolved issues once the show finished, but you just never know. At the last minute they might decide they want to continue this after all, leaving a big gaping hole for a new series. Not that a new series would necessarily suck, but let's see this one off properly ... please?
Networks to freely release pilot screeners to the public
By "public" I don't just mean magazines, newspapers and TV-themed websites. I mean posting full pilot episodes online for everyone to see and comment on. We get screeners here all the time at TV Squad and completely honor the relationship with the networks in not sneaking them out to YouTube or anywhere else. Then, without fail, someone else leaks it anyway and we look like douches for not showing you what we got because we're playing nice. So, networks, either release these to the public yourselves or let us do so and stop telling us not to.
More HD channels for (at least) cable
Right now I've got NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, HBO and Showtime in HD. What I'm sorely lacking is SciFi, F/X and The CW. Some of those are listed because my craptastic Charter cable company doesn't carry them in HD, so this entry is an overall wish for me to get these networks in HD in some way. Sure, I can catch Battlestar Galactica on Universal HD much later than it airs on SciFi, but in the words of Veruca Salt: "I want it nooooow!"
A satisfying end to The Shield
Thankfully one of my wishes came true for the new year, as The Shield's final season was already in the bag before the WGA strike started. This means we'll see the entire final season in all its glory once it comes back on the air in 2008. However, like may fans of the show, I won't be satisfied with some pussyfoot finale for such a kick-ass show. They need to blow us out of the water and show us that Vick Mackey doesn't go out with a wimper. I swear, if they pull some Sopranos blackout shite on us, I will swear of F/X forever. Well, until Damages is done, then that's it! No more! Really!
A satisfying end to the WGA strike
'Nuff said, really. No TV wish list is complete without it.

Re "Battlestar": After watching it (and enjoying it) from the beginning, I was oddly disappointed by the second half of season three, and eventually stopped watching it altogether. I might not come back.
Re Pilot Screeners: Not a bad idea. It would make deciding what new shows to watch in fall a lot easier.
Re more HD channels: This one, at least, is going to come true, undoubtedly. The number of channels available in HD is only going to increase as time goes on.
Re "The Shield": After the backlash from the "Sopranos" finale, I doubt anyone will be doing anything ambiguous that doesn't blow viewers away in their finales for a long time.
Re WGA strike: It's on everyone's list. I hate reality TV.

My predictions for the final season of 'The Shield':
Vic Mackey will be the last man standing. I have a feeling he's going to unconsciously manipulate Ronnie into killing Shane, or the two of them will kill one another. Whether or not he breaks the Pezuela/Mexican mob case is almost secondary, although it makes for a great B story arc. The real question is how are they going to deal with Shane. It's pretty obvious that they will never really be a team again.
Then again, who the hell saw The Incident coming in season three? Hopefully, they will throw just as many tantalizing curveballs as usual.
I can't wait.

I agree with just about everything you said on here. Yes, not having Sci-Fi Channel or FX network in HD formats does indeed suck. Of course having a widescreen television "Battlestar Galactica" looks pretty sweet on it, on DVD. No black bars, eva! But its still not HD. And yes a great finale season for both BSG and "The Shield". I have little worries about "The Shield." The progression of the series has really quite tip the scales in that whole Vic Mackey good cop/bad cop debate. I don't see him getting promoted to captain, moving to a big house, and celebrating his 15th wedding annivesary with his wife and kids sort of ending. Of course I would have said similar to "The Sopranos" finale also.

I just want Vic Mackey to be brought down real hard.
As for Battlestar, season 3 had a few disappointing episodes, but I blame that on the large number of episodes the writers have to write, which leads to filler. But I am confident that the writers would be able to pull it off in the 4th seasons.

I want Journeyman to get picked up for an additional 13 episodes, and then a full-season order. Journeyman was/is intelligent, thought-provoking storytelling -- and refreshingly, NOT a CSI: or Law & Order spinoff.
ALL the dramas on television can't be about doctors, lawyers, and cops, you know.

Brendon,
Apparently "reporter" is the next logical step after lawyers, doctors, and cops (see "Women's Murder Club," which centers on a DA, a medical examiner, a policewoman, and a reporter -- so, a lawyer, a doctor, a cop, and a reporter).
As for your hope of "Journeyman" getting renewed -- I hate to rain on your parade, but it's had poor ratings and mostly bad reviews. I'm sure that the WGA strike can only hurt it.
