Since the Season four finale aired, fans (myself included) of USA Network's The 4400 have been waiting to hear the word "renewed." Usually, news of a renewal is announced about mid-season or before the finale. Even if it wasn't the case this time around, we all held hope that USA would renew the popular sci-fi series. I'm unhappy to report that the cancellation ax fell on the show this week.
The network has yet to make an announcement but creator and executive producer Scott Peters let fans know about the sad news in a post he made yesterday on the show's message board over at USANetwork.com. In his message, Peters thanks fans for their "tireless devotion to the show" and reminds everyone that they (himself, the cast and crew) are really proud of what they accomplished with the story and the characters.
I truly hope USA Networks calls everyone back for a 2-hour TV movie special where the storylines could be wrapped up and the end game could be explained. Another great show bites the dust...

That was pretty much my reaction. If my wife didn't occasionally mention watching it, I wouldn't even have known it was still around.

though i can certainly understand the need to wrap up some of the storylines, this show jumped the shark after isabelle aged 20 years. last season was terrible, and i bet the competition from "heroes" hurt ratings, too.

i think heroes was a huge ripoff of 4400.
a lot of people think heroes came first, which is quite interesting

This sucks. Last season was certainly a little rocky, but this show was so unique. Heroes was built on some of its ideas, and I felt like where they were going with the story was really cool.

Is is not bad enough that we hear so much about these losers wanting $5 more in their paychecks for making stuff up and writing it down, that all of these networks are now going to cancel our best shows, either by saying it's the strike or not... The 4400 could be moved to Sci Fi channel, if at all possible, so that it can have a resurgence by being placed in a new time slot that could actually have humans watching it. THAT IS WHY WE TIVO.. some of us have to wake up at 0400 and get to work.. Let's see what excuses the network makes up; poor rating; the strike; the money we made from commercials paid for my yacht & now I don't need the show.... Please try and stop an exuberant example of just how we promote these networks by buying the DVD boxed set collection, and then maybe we can send a message instead cases of our own money to support the cast and get our show back... The 4400 is a damn awesome show and I challenge Sci Fi to pick it up, I'll watch it, Tivo it, and support you in it! Let's keep the moto.... "Changes to the world have begun"

The "losers making stuff up and writing it down" are the ones who came up with all the ideas that make shows like "The 4400" "damn awesome". If your opinion of writers is so low, you should stick to watching reality TV out of principle.

They should have just gave it a 6 episode miniseries.
And last season was OK, season 3 was terrible, but I think the show lost it's way after season 2.

While I agree that the last couple seasons weren't as good as the first, I would still like to see how things end. And last season was better than the third. (It could have ended then and I wouldn't have minded as much.)

Damn it! What the heck are the people in Hollywood smoking these days? They cancel all the good shows with promise, and keep letting crappy sitcoms and reality shows dominate the airwaves.
John is not happy today. No sir.

They cannot do this to me.... I love that show even with its recent troubles. I need to know how it all ends, what is Tom's power, more info about the bad futures plan. We must change this!
