Letterman and Ferguson want to return January 2 too

LettermanIt seems that January 2, 2008 has become the official day for the late night talk show hosts to return to work. Leno, O'Brien, and Kimmel have already announced that they are coming back on that day (a Wednesday), and now comes word that David Letterman and Craig Ferguson want to come back that day too.

The only hitch? They want to make a temporary deal with the Writers Guild so they can come back with writers. Worldwide Pants (which also owns Ferguson's show) head Rob Burnett however seems to be willing to ease up on that a bit, saying that the show is "willing to agree to the writers' demands that are within our control." Expect a decision in the next day or two.

I think both Letterman and Ferguson will return in some way on January 2, whether it's with some writers or not, so all of the late night shows are back on the same day. I just can't imagine that the shows wouldn't return when all of the other late night shows on the other networks are back.
