Kristin from E! Online reports that sources revealed that Journeyman is officially done. That news won't surprise many fans because the cancellation ax has been hovering over the show for a few weeks now. We were first made aware of the possibility that Dan Vasser's travels through time would probably come to a premature stop about two weeks ago.Kristin also reports that it's unknown if the final two episodes will air or not! As a fan of the show, NBC better air those episodes as they are supposed to give fans many answers to a point that episode 13 could serve somewhat as a series finale. Anyway, what else can NBC schedule besides reruns if they don't air those two episodes? Why not air episodes they paid for and reward loyal viewers at the same time!
I checked both the show's site and the NBC press site and episodes 12 and 13 are still listed for next week. So let's keep our fingers crossed that we get to see those two episodes! Is it wishful thinking if I dream that NBC gives the show another chance? If the strike lasts too long to have a pilot season, who knows?

I can't help but feel disgust at how poorly NBC treats its new shows. I can see them cancelling Bionic Woman, I know few people who still watch it and hardly anyone is coming to its defense. Journeyman is another story completely! If anything, it is just now beginning to really hit its stride! The last few shows have shown tremendous improvement as the plot develops and now NBC is yanking the rug out from under both the show and the fans of the show. Just awful - thanks for nothing!
I seem to remember another "quirky" NBC show that nearly didn't make the cut after running its first season. That show was Medium (running in the same time slot actually) and after getting moved around a few times and starting mid season the following year it has turned into a major show for NBC. Who is to say that the same thing couldn't happen to Journeyman if given a chance? As you point out, WHAT THE HELL ELSE ARE THEY GOING TO PUT ON INSTEAD??? It is ridiculous to me that so much money and time are invested each year to develop and air new shows only to dump them before they are really given a chance to get a foothold. It has made even the most casual viewers wary of developing a relationship with a show - and more so with dedicated viewers. If anything, the networks are destroying their income base by not allowing us to depend on having our shows continue. Hell, I'd much rather slip in a video or not watch at all then to invest all that time in a show and not have it continue to a satisfying end. Just pitiful.
NBC - you suck. In fact, you suck worse than I can put into words here.

this sucks, I love this show. They take Lost and BSG off the air 9 months at a time. They leave fun serialized shows like 4400 and Burn Notice to 3 months in the summer. Why is it that the only stuff that does well is crap like the singing bee and dancing with the hasbeens. We need more good serialized dramas on tv. Journeyman was a great show, it took a while to develop but its a really coo idea and at a time when the networks have zilch, why not push new shows and give them a chance to grow. I'm sure in a month when there is nothing on except "Who wants to be a Tv programmer!" AND OTHER wall to wall crap reality shows, something like Journeyman would bring better ratings.

This does royally suck. I think we all need to just accept that the vast majority of programming execs lack a brain, and go from there.

It's obvious that the networks are looking for that key demographic for ratings...or something. Ok..nothing is obvious. Networks cancel shows because they get poor ratings...or something.
It seems to me that the people who should get the boot are the marketers. If they can't sell a show of this quality to viewers...then what can they sell? Marketers, here's a clue...find new ways to sell your shows. Use social networks...use the SciFi Network (since you own it anyway)...use newspapers or technology magazines....to sell a show like this..get yourself to Comicon...E3...hell..put ads in video games...this is a sci fi show...so sell to your people.
And since you have nothing to show that's new....and nodboy is going to be watching your reruns....show new episodes of shows you've "cancelled" for the people who care. Show new episodes of Journeyman...Threshold...anything that you cut short. Hell, if I was a writer, I'd be pissed off at the networks ability to consider bi-polar behavior the norm.

I totally agree with you! How can Two and A Half Men or Dancing with the Stars have higher ratings than a show as great as Journeyman? Simple, it's poor marketing. I barely heard anything about this show, but once I watched it, I was hooked. Like the Black Donnellys and Raines last season, NBC isn't giving its most intelligent shows a chance to build up an audience. Journeyman was placed in an awful time slot, (Why couldn't it have been a Tuesday night show at 8 or 9?) and was never marketed. I saw tons of ads for Heroes but none for Journeyman, and Heroes already has its audience and public eye, Journeyman needed to build up. I think shows should be given two seasons unless universally panned like "Cavemen" or "Back to You" because it usually takes at least that long to gain acceptance. But regardless, any show as good as "Journeyman" should never be cancelled, it should be allowed to run its course and pick up steam over time. DVD releases help ratings, as do Emmy nominations. DON'T CANCEL THIS SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a tough time with this news. Ben Silverman proved his worth to me, if only for the short-term, by ordering a full season of Life despite low ratings. (He ordered a full season of Chuck, too, but that's a successful show, I think.) I really enjoy watching Journeyman each week, and am not happy it's being cancelled. But at the same time, this show is a total rip-off of Quantum Leap and it's ridiculously formulaic. So I can understand if Silverman didn't enjoy the same affection for this show as some of us.
Bleh.

Thanks NBC! Guess what ?I wont be watching the Network anymore. The first decent show you have produced in ages and you treat it like the red headed step child! The worst of it is with the writers strike there isnt anything new to watch.... try putting in a different time slot and see if people watch it instead of some lame reality de jour.

I really wish all networks would make it a policy for serialized shows that air on their networks shoot a resolution episode to be aired when the show gets its cancellation notice.
They can keep it until either the plot changes to a point where the resolution is obsolete or if the show airs long enough that the cast changes or ages. In those cases, a new resolution episode can be filmed the following season.
At least this would give loyal viewers closure and attract viewers to future serials that some previously avoided for fear of becoming to invested only to have the show cancelled.

how does zucker still have his job? has any tv exec overseen the complete collapse in a network from its peak to the lowest possible level?
I used to be glued to nbc. no longer. not for a long time. once they mess up handling FNL, i'll have no ties left. and i won't miss it. msnbc really sucks too.

This is utterly rediculous. What a great show that is FAR FAR BETTER then that Miami show. I had quit watching that for the Black Donnally's then for Journyman, one and now probably both have been canceled.
THIS IS GETTING REAL OLD NBC. You cancel GREAT shows and don't bat an eye.
I gave Bionic woman a chance and that sucked but you cancel Journyman and think you're cool or something. Like others have said. I may just have to give up on you, NBC cuz this is getting real old real fast!

Ok NBC you have a show that doesn't make the numbers on NBC. Did you consider switching it over to SCI-FI at least for a half season? It seems like a better match.

@hphill, I was just about to say the same thing. Move it to SciFi. This show has a great premise, great actors (which most of the time is not the norm on SciFi) and has so many open avenues to explore.

I agree with what has been said so far. I don't watch Fox because of their tendency to cancel great shows without giving them a chance. NBC is close to joining them.
Journeyman is one of the best shows out there.

NBC is making a huge mistake by not allowing good shows like Journeyman to grow and become the great show it can! this one has all the elements to become a classic and they are showing very poor judgement and a narrow perspective in their actions. if this show is really canceled I'm done with Nbc.

A few things:
1) I never started watching Journeyman. I wanted to, but thanks to not putting more than a few episodes online (as mentioned yesterday), I couldn't. So yeah, that sucks.
2) Don't forget NBC is the network that let 30 Rock and Friday Night Lights live on into this season. AND they're the network that sells season 1 of FNL for only $20 WITH a "like it or return it" guarantee to get you watching. So don't claim they go around canceling every good show relentlessly.
3) I feel your pain. Does it feel like Journeyman could be produced on a lower budget and do as well? If so, start a website to try to get it onto SciFi! If you guys manage to save it, I WILL watch it, by any means necessary. That's why I have now watched Jericho!
