So is it yet another Star Trek alumnus coming on-screen, or a reunion of former Murphy Brown costars Candace Bergen and her on-screen amore Scott Bakula, as TV Guide says. Looks like it's both, as Bakula has signed on to join Bergen and William Shatner for an upcoming episode of Boston Legal. In it he will play one of Shirley Schmidt's (Bergen) exes who runs into her at a bar. No word on if his will be a multi-episode arc or a one-time appearance.
Bakula has shown himself to have a bit of comedic chops recently on The New Adventures of Old Christine, and with BL being a dramedy, he might do very well there. Either way, it is good to see Bakula back on the small screen. Quantum Leap remains one of my all-time favorite shows and I'm still mad they haven't found a way to bring it back (despite periodic rumors that they may), while Knight Rider gets a revival. It'd be great if they can get Bakula's character and Denny Crane (Shatner) together in a scene and have them salute one another or slip some other Trek teaser for the audience in the know.

Does anyone remember Scott Bakula on that show about the San Francisco Hotel - I think it was about the Fairmont but the name of the show was something else. Wasn't that Scott Bakula? Or are you all too young to have known the show? What was the name of it??

Does anyone remember that thing that was playing on the tv screen in that state? I think something was a clue to figure out why Scott Bakula was coming from the other place.

Ex of Shirley=nemisis for Denny Crane.
Oh the joy of seeing two Enterprise captains argue/fight/whatever over a woman. Pure geek bliss.
Is it just a coincidence or is there a reasoning for all of the Star Trek Alumni being on this show?

Journeyman is more of a Star Trek show than Enterprise ever was, so you really are insulting the franchise by calling him a Star Trek "alum".

Uh what?
I think you have some show confused there.
I assume you were trying to say that Quantum Leap was more of a Star Trek show.
Regardless of the quality of the show (never watched it actually) it was still apart of the franchise and the geek level of dueling Enterprise Captains is awesome.

Also, my main point WASN'T about Bakula being an Star Trek alum but looking at the fact that a large number of actors have been in one form of Star Trek or another and have been on BL.

I love all things Star Trek and I'm glad to see Scott
Bakula back on the small screen. I'm thrilled he's here with Bill Shatner. May they live long and prosper. I'm a fan of most actors on Boston Legal though I haven't seen the show much. My major question here, though, is did Scott Bakula actually do his own singing? I love his version of that song! His voice is beautiful.

If it was still in production, I'd rather have Bakula guest-star on "Journeyman", for the obvious "Quantum Leap" connection.

This is great news. He and Candice were wonderful together on Murphy Brown. Hope they've signed him up for a bunch of episodes.
Oh, and as far as having comedic chops, that's the venue Scott first started in, musical comedy on stage and then TV shows llike Designing Women, Gung Ho, Eisenhower & Lutz, Murphy Brown, Dream On, New Adventures of Old Christine and American Body Shop just prove the point!
His stint on BL should be fun. Sure looking forward to it!

I think Bakula is terrible. Whenever he joins a show, it fails. When he joined Quantum leap instead of the curly headed guy, the show was not long for this world. enterprise was terrible. he is not a good actor. look out boston legal...you may be signing your death warrant with the addition of bakula

Actually...Scott Bakula was with Quantum Leap from the beginning. The series ran from 1989 to 1993. So, Myra, you are incorrect. I adored Quantum Leap and was angry when they took it off. I watch Journeyman....and it's good, but it's no Quantum Leap.

Curly headed guy? Are you thinking of Baywatch or something? Bakula was on Quantum Leap for 5 years and Enterprise for 4. Your post is very confusing.

My heart still pants for James Spader. Love the show, it's the absolute best of the best. Glad Bakula is coming on board - it will be absolutely "out of this world". James, don't worry, you still have loyalists out here...pant. pant.

Yes I too occationally watch an episode of Quantum Leap ever once in a blue moon, but I loved the show. Really, I did. Everyone should take the time to watch an episode once a year.

Interesting comment about the "left ripping the country appart". I'm sorry but the "left" didn't steal two Presidential elections. And LIE our way into the worst fiasco in the history of the country. And where oh where is BinLaden? Boston Legal brings up relevant and "right now" in your face topics. It has great writers and good acting. The combination of Alan Shore and Denny Crane is the best on television. Now aren't you glad that the right wing hasn't taken free speech away yet?
