To nobody's surprise, game and reality shows will fill a large chunk of CBS's winter schedule. The network sent out a press release yesterday confirming that Power of 10, Big Brother, and Survivor would return so would fan-favorite Jericho as well as The New Adventures of Old Christine and a new comedy titled The Captain. Here is a summary of the press release:
- 48 Hours Mystery will air new episodes on Tuesdays January 22 and 29 at 10 p.m.
- Big Brother will have its first winter edition when it begins on Tuesday, February 12 at 9 p.m. It'll also have Wednesday and Sunday broadcasts at 8 p.m. The ChenBot (aka Julie Chen) will return as host.
- Comanche Moon, a six-hour mini-series, will broadcast in the week of January 13 at 9 p.m.
- Do You Trust Me, a new game show, will be added to the schedule at a later time.
- Jericho, saved by a fan campaign, will air its seven season-two episodes starting on Tuesday February 12 at 10 p.m.
- Power of 10, still hosted by Drew Carey, will return on Wednesday, January 2 at 8 p.m.
- Survivor returns for a 16th season on Thursday, February 7 at 8 p.m. The network won't confirm if it'll be an all-star season or not.
- The Captain, starring Fran Kranz, Chris Klein, Jeffrey Tambor and Raquel Welch, will premiere on Monday, January 28 at 8:30 p.m. This comedy is about an eclectic group of people living in the same Hollywood apartment building.
- The New Adventures of Old Christine, starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus, will return on Monday, January 28 at 9:30 p.m.
The network's schedule will also be filled with reruns of Cold Case, Criminal Minds, CSI, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, Ghost Whisperer, How I Met Your Mother, Moonlight, NCIS, Numb3rs, Shark, Two and a Half Men and Without a Trace.

I'm embarrassingly excited about the winter Big Brother. I've noticed a lot of promos on CBS inviting people to try to become a contestant. If those are meant to whip up some contestants for February, that's going to be an awfully short contestant search!

Just wondering about Jericho season 2... I thought there were 7 episodes made for the shortened season? Is CBS holding out the Season (hopefully not Series) finale for a later date?

You are right. Somehow my brain was 100% sure it was 6. I just checked and it is indeed 7. I'll correct my article.
As far as I know, CBS will air all 7 episodes in a row (maybe with the odd week of no episodes to air a special).

I'm pleased as punch that Moonlight, even in reruns, will still be running during the winter months.
The show is fantastic, and actors are amazing, especially with the chemistry between Alex O'Loughlin (Mick St John) and Sophia Myles (Beth Turner). It's positively electric.
Fan sites such as www.moonlightline.com are abuzz with their relationship and what it means now that Coraline (Mick's ex wife) is back in the picture. Will they? Won't they?
It really keeps you coming back for more.
Bravo, CBS for airing this fantastic show! I just can't get enough of CBS President Nina Tassler's Vampire. It seems there are loads of other people who feel the same way.

Some tempered enthusiasm would be appropriate. This show has come a long way from the premiere, but that isn't saying much. It isn't the best show on TV, it isn't even the best drama on CBS (That would be either Cane or Jericho, both of which are far better than Moonlight).
Nevertheless, it is certainly entertaining, and deserves to be renewed.

Moonlight Rocks!
I am so happy that this show will be aired through the winter. I wish it had more episodes, but I will be watching the reruns!
Alex O'Laughlin, Sophia Myles, Jason Dohring and Brian White are excellent in this show.

This is good news for the legions of passionately devoted Moonlight fans. It is one of the best shows on tv, and hopefully the reruns will give a new audience a chance to fall in love with the romance and mystique of Moonlight.

I hope it is NOT an all-star Survivor - we've had enough of that! Also thanking CBS for bringing in an early Big Brother! I like it

Will Survivor NEVER end? I know it's the Chia pet of TV shows (just add water for instant fun, no work required!) but c'mon, CBS. This show was amusing for one or two seasons but it's long past its prime. Retire the reality shows. There's reality everywhere you look. Pay some writers and bring back good programming to TV!

YAY for Moonlight in any form or fashion. I'll watch reruns till the cows come home, but I would prefer all new episodes all the time. In a perfect world, eh?
Thank you, CBS for sticking with Moonight! You won't regret it!

So even with a strike on, and all their shows in reruns, they can't be bothered to give The Amazing Race a slot in the spring?

My brain vaguely remembers reading that the next season of TAR wouldn't be ready to air for a few more months (March?). Plus, that press release lists the January and February additions. So there is still hope for another TAR this TV season.

Glad to see Moonlight being kept on the schedule in reruns. It's now my favorite show. It's so addictive.
I just read that it will most likely be renewed along with Big Bang Theory. 2 of the 5 new shows will be back. So yes, Cane is dead as it should be.

Heard this rumor at http://www.bb9spoilers.com looks like BS to me
"The season will be called, "HOW THE OTHER HALF LIVES". It will be 6 celebrities (paid a handsome fee for their appearance) and 6 non-celebrities. The celebrities would live in plush surroundings at one end of the house and the non-celebrities would live in the other end in "basic" surroundings, complete with mechanical rats and roaches. They unwittingly vote each other to move back and forth between the areas until they are merged. Alice Cooper is one of the celebrities under consideration-so is George Michael. 3 nights a week starting Sunday Jan. 13, right after AMAZING RACE finale.
