The fine folks at TVShowsonDVD.com almost make me happy. Trey Parker and Matt Stone really hit it out of the park with their "Imaginationland" South Park trilogy, and the stellar ratings prove that everyone agrees on this point. In response, Comedy Central says they'll be collected in a special DVD set released March 11, 2008. That's like four months away! Okay, I can't blame TVShowsonDVD for that, but I like to kill the messenger ... the post office doesn't deliver mail to my house anymore.
I want to know why it's going to take so long. The boys can make an episode in 27 minutes, I can burn a DVD in two, and it takes about four days to ship goods by ground from the coasts to the Midwest, where I live. By my factoring, if they get started right now, I should have it Monday afternoon. I know the industry likes to release DVDs on Tuesdays, so I'll even give an extra day. I'll be in the stores next week looking for it. Don't make me come looking for the messenger.

Funny, they didn't do much for me either - really good episodes but hardly 'knocked out of (south) park'.
But I'm in full agreement about the release date. Maybe one day the industry will figure out why torrents are so popular, and for me, it's not because they are free (I'll buy the DVDs if I've really enjoyed a show), but because they are .instant.

I tink it taks much longer for the to make a quality dvd let alone 10000+ quality dvds and then ship them to whole sale manufatures and then have whole sale ship them to top ends like the amazon top end best buy top end but you cant buy anything from whole sale or top end you have to wait top end will then ship to ther division hubs thu hubs will then finally sip them to stores but wait theres more waiting cause there in the back room they then need to be put on shelves and then you can buy it
wow its a miracle they do it in less than a year

Why would I buy 3 episodes for $10-$15 when I can buy the complete season for $20-$30?

The Imaginationland trilogy was great, but why waste time on this DVD set when they could be putting the entire eleventh season on DVD? And sheesh, by the time this set comes out the twelfth season will be premiering. However, they are coming out with a DVD featuring all of the "South Park" Christmas episodes, which might be a worthwhile buy depending on how much it costs. That would only be seven episodes:
"Mr. Hankey the Christmas Poo"
"Merry Christmas, Charlie Manson!"
"Mr. Hankey's Christmas Classics"
"A Very Crappy Christmas"
"Red Sleigh Down"
"It's Christmas in Canada"
"Woodland Critter Christmas"
Maybe they should've made a set for all of the holiday episodes. Then they could have included the 4 Halloween episodes ("Pinkeye," "Spookyfish," "Korn's Groovy Pirate Ghost Mystery," "Hell on Earth 2006"), the Thanksgiving episode ("Starvin' Marvin"), the Fourth of July episode ("Summer Sucks"), and this past season's Easter episode ("Fantastic Easter Special"). Now that would have been a sweet DVD set.

It would be cool for an uncensored version to be released, with more evil and craziness. Snarf Snarf

I'm with Jason on this: for me, this story was one of the best the show has ever done. I can understand why some fans might not like it so much -- it was a bit lighter on gags and heavier on message and philosophy than usual -- but the underlying message was really powerful.

Well the South Park seasons usually start around March/April... It makes good sense to sell DVDs right before a new season starts. They will already be running ads for the shows, so they can advertise the DVD at the same time (in the same ads even).

No enthusiasm here. This was the worst installment of an otherwise good season, and a 3-parter nonetheless.

I would love to know when the entire eleventh season is going to be released on dvd. The twelfth season has already started, and the previous season is usually on dvd by then. I'm really looking forward to adding season eleven to my collection of south park dvd's (I have seasons 1-10) but I don't know when that's going to happen:(
