While Elizabeth Berkley's TV pedigree was perhaps better received than her feature film debut, it was the notorious Showgirls that made her a household name and launched her into the "Worst Films Ever" hall of fame. Her career began in the teen series Saved by the Bell, which also netted us Dancing with the Star's Mario Lopez, NYPD Blue's Mark Paul Gosselar and Beverly Hills, 90210's Tiffani-Amber Thiessen.
After Showgirls, it took the actress many years to regain credibility and acclaim, working in theater and off-Broadway productions until her return to television in 2002 in a recurring role on Titus. Since then she has guested on several shows, including CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Now, Reuters tells us the 35 year-old Berkley is set to play Horatio Cane's (David Caruso) ex-wife Julia Winston and mother to his recently discovered teenage son (Evan Ellingson) on spin-off CSI: Miami. Miami is known as a "hotter, sexier" CSI, so she should fit right in. She can even try to match Caruso's one-of-a-kind line delivery when they inevitably spar.

"CSI: Miami" isn't so much "hotter and sexier" as it is "campier and more ridiculous." (Not that there's anything wrong with that.) So Elizabeth Berkley will fit right in.
And kudos for Horatio for marrying someone only 16 years younger (as opposed to Marisol, who was 20 years younger).

Jessica Simpson can act better than David Caruso. So maybe she thinks that people will see her as a better actress standing next to him.

Just another good reason NOT to watch it. Unfortunately it is usually the only thing on in that time slot.

Actually, watch her in Roger Dodger...she's not bad at all. I think her career got massively sidetracked because of Showgirls but she's really not awful. Certainly not as bad as say Caruso, Keanu or Tom Cruise.

Wait, how old is the teen-aged son supposed to be? Cause if the actress is 35, it would be pretty creepy if the son were older than 15, particularly given Caruso's age. I know there are plenty of 35 year-old women with children in the 14-18 age range. But don't you think the father is typically closer to the mother's age when that happens? I realize that she could be playing older, but how often does that happen?

CSI Miami is a laugh. Caruso is a terrible overactor. Everybody needs to drop that show and watch Journeyman!!! That's a good show.

CSI: Miami is the Two And A Half Men of Drama. The first two or three seasons were ok but there is stuff so unbearably fake it hurts.
They tend to put stuff into the show that companies put in their "And in the future we will have..." advertisements. All CGI, all fake, all made up.

Is it just me, or does that picture look like she is screen testing for the part of Poison Ivy for a Batman movie ... and she looks better there than Thurman did in the actual Clooney movie.
