(S01E07) "Would it kill you guys to put up a painting, a plant?" - Jaime, to Ruth, about the cold decor at HQ.
Jaime Sommers: Worst. Spy. Ever.
Seriously, I don't care how much money has gone into her, I'd fire her right now, send her back to bartending. She follows a bad guy with a suitcase and then gets distracted by a cell phone call from boyfriend Tom? She couldn't just not answer it or maybe tell him she'll call him back? What is she, 14? She's probably also mad that she's has to, like, totally work and everything, at the same time there's a new Gossip Girl on The CW!
Not only is she distracted by a cell phone call, it leads her to cause a car accident just to get the suitcase back, thereby risking a lot of people seeing her. Couldn't she just keep running and follow the car until it stops? Which leads me to ask, what is with her running anyway? Sometimes she seems to be able to move as quick as The Flash (tonight's scene where she got the upper hand on Tom's cohorts), other times she just seems to run as fast as a really good sprinter. It's really inconsistent. Same thing with her arm strength (she can't pull herself up on a roof with the same bionic arm she picks up other people with and bends giant fans?) and her hearing. But they probably wouldn't have long missions on the show if her powers were consistent, and we'd have to watch 5 minute webisodes on nbc.com.
More bad spy stuff: when little sis asks her and Tom how they met, Jaime says she bought a timeshare. Huh? What a lousy lie to tell your sister that you live with. What, you wouldn't have mentioned that earlier? She just seems really inept. The worst spy since Maxwell Smart. At least he solved cases by accident most of the time. Jaime's ineptness causes the death of her partner.
That's right, Isaiah Washington is killed by an old girlfriend assassin at the end of the episode. Maybe he would have lived through the bullet wound in his gut if Jaime didn't just stand there and looked like a confused supermodel while he was on the ground dying (and why didn't she run fast to get the assassin?). I didn't expect Washington to be off the show so quickly, though it was painfully predictable that the whole "Antonio Pope is a bad guy" plot was going to turn out to be a red herring (another lame deduction by Jaime - she's on a roll!). I wonder what exactly the point is in killing Pope. I mean, Jaime has already gone through the death of her fiancee' (also by an assassin's bullet - she's bad luck), so why bring on yet another company guy for a handful of episodes just to kill him off? Probably because Washington only agreed to do a certain number of eps? I guess all those plans for a spinoff series involving Washington's character are off, eh? I don't think this plot development had the emotional impact they were hoping for because there wasn't enough character development with Pope.
Despite all this - and I can't really explain my reaction - I still kinda enjoy this show. It's not going to show up on my "Best" list at the end of the season and not on the "Worst" list either. It's just an action show that I don't mind watching for a hour every Wednesday night.

I have officially given up on this show. The people behind this series have absolutely no idea how to write for this genre. This series badly needs a Ron Moore or Ira Steven Behr behind the scenes because the current group, BSG's David Eick among them, suck badly. The people behind this show and the actors spent all summer bashing Lindsey Wagner and the original series, but I'll take that show any day over this crap. The original Bionic Woman may have had its campy moments, but it was fun to watch and unlike Michelle Ryan Ms. Wagner can actually act -- hell, she won an Emmy for playing Jaime Sommers; something I can't see Michelle Ryan ever accomplishing.

Woah. I'm glad I stopped watching after episode 2. Are you serious? That's how it's going down? Tsk tsk.

Yeah, Isiah Washington was the best non-starbuck actor on that show. Sure, he's a douche, but a good actor. I'm afraid the bad PR surrounding him is what got him in the end. A bad call, because more actors of his caliber would go a long way for this show. I'll keep watching it, but I seriously doubt this is going beyond season 1.

Shame on me, but I liked last night's intro with the cell phone distraction, and drop kicking the car, and almost blowing the mission. All that fun stuff. I've said for the past few weeks now they need to make this show a comedy/actioner, because no matter what they do it's going to turn out silly. OK, stupid may be a better word for it than silly. But stupid can be fun sometimes. Look at Reaper. And Dr. Who.
As always, there were some massive logic gaps in this episode. Nothing got under my skin more than when the computer tech dude somehow analyzed the chlorine residue on the crime scene sample Jaime found and determined the exact fountain that it came from. I started choking on my food from yelling at the screen. That and her bionic hearing suddenly kicking in and detecting the sniper rifle being cocked from a mile away, over the noise coming from the racetrack crowd. Oooookay.
This show is not worth watching, but I can't seem to stop myself from tuning in. heh

Bionic Woman is still good, don't get me wrong, but the writing inconsistencies are a bit irritating. I liked Pope, and his depatrure leaves a big hole in the ensemble's acting chops.
Also, did they dismantle the other BW? What's her deal? Since she was captured, there's been no word on her--not that I can recall.

I'm still watching this for more Sarah Corvus, but show really still comes off as a third-rate Alias clone. As for Isiah Washington, I was really tired of his brooding cold tough spy schtick, so frankly I was glad he was killed off the show. For some reason he just never seemed charismatic enough to me to pull off his character - not that it was a well written character, anyway.

"when little sis asks her and Tom how they met, Jaime says she bought a timeshare. Huh?" She's saying Tom bought a timeshare. Her cover with her sister is that she sells timeshares, and that's why she always has to go away on business trips.

Ok, just needed to put this somewhere. Why is no one reviewing the Unit?!?! They continue to put out great episodes and no one seems to notice. This last story arc was one of the most heart wrenching things I've seen in a while. Oh, and Dennis Haysbert is BADASSSSSS. Ok, rant over.

Okay, I have to agree that this show is not as good as it started off. I'm getting tired of the Jamie-is-a-dumb-bartender thing... they really need to start smartening her up.
When we found out that Antonio was not really the bad guy, I was actually quite disappointed because I wanted him off the show. Turns out he died anyway so I got my way. Hopefully, they don't turn him Bionic or something and bring him back. The thing with his character is that audiences weren't relating to him. Isaiah Washington IS a brilliant actor but his performance as Antonio was just falling flat. It was annoying.
The other thing is I'm glad Sara Corvis hasn't been on the show. I found her character annoying to.
Other than that, I haven't given up hope on the show. I just really hope they start to develop Jamie into a smarter chick... it wouldn't be so bad if they took more cues from Alias, it might actually save the show.
That's my 2 cents :)

Did anyone notice the apartment at the Waterfall Apartments was Starbucks apartment on Caprica (and technically also the one the cylons recreated on New Caprica). There are other BSG references throughout the series - obviously I think there have been at least 3 BSG actors used (starbuck, tyrell and romo lampkin). BSG was also on TV in a previous ep.

I stopped caring about this show 3 weeks ago. After watching shows with strong women characters i.e. Alias, Battlestar, DS9, Chuck, 30 Rock, etc, The Jamie Summers character is not only lame and immature, but she is so stupid for a spy. And her little sound bites when she fights or says anything are just bad writing. I watched this show because I like David Eick's work on Battlestar, after watching this show I am beginning to wonder if Battlestar is just all Ron Moore. I dropped this show because there are better things to watch and Alias did this 50 million times better.

Alas, due to legal stuff, Starbuck can only be in half of the episodes of this show since she's a regular on another one.
Man, Jamie is stoopid beyond belief. NO CALLING YOUR BOYFRIEND DURING WORK HOURS applies to EVERYONE.
I was so bored by the end I didn't even notice whatshisface had died. How sad is that?

I missed the first 20 minutes or so.... I saw the scene where Washington got shot and Jaime just stood there. She just stood there. The worst part was I just watched her standing there. I'm watching the scene just waiting for her to call an ambulance or try and help him. I just kept waiting and waiting and nothing happened. Then we see him die in one of the worst death scenes I've seen in a while. He doesn't need oxygen. Just let him talk until he's tired and dies. That topped off an episode where I really, really tried to suspend belief. The running... How large of a horse track was that? I'm in shape and was a pretty good sprinter in high school. I think I can take her. Jaime was running forever... and nobody noticed. Nobody noticed her jumping a few stories too. I'd think I'm faster than her if it weren't for scenes where we don't actually see her run(the scene where she confronts the CIA agents). Knowing me, I'll keep watching. Shows like this don't help the WGA though.

I won't be watching Bionic Woman without Isaiah Washington. It was the only reason I watched at all. White America uses any excuse to rob a brilliant black actor or anyone else of their career for calling a fag a fag, etc. etc. for any old reason. Even fags don't mind being called fags. Ask them. What is worse is the hypocrisy. Most whites are extremely racist. They just don't realize it. Here's a simple example: when you see people of color in your company hallway, do you speak or break your necks trying to avoid eye contact with thooooose people. The majority of white people are extremely hateful, unjust, and unkind. But your self-righteous blinders keep you from being aware of it. By the way, I never understood the McDreamy and McSteamy stuff. See how white people trick other white people--Patrick Dempsey was never and never will be hot!! Somebody put mousse in his hair, that's all. He is not fine. Isaiah is fine and the other one is fine, but Patrick Dempsey? LMAO!!!

@Jimmy and @Wii60 - You two hit it right on the head. Nicely said and I agree 100%.
Admittedly, I have bashed this show on this site since the beginning, and I don't see myself stopping soon. I had very high expectations for this show because of BSG's David Eick's involvement as well as the hype that NBC and Bionic's production crew spewed before the premiere.
It irks me that bad shows get lucky breaks but good, creative shows get cancelled. The Bionic Woman needed both excellent writing AND acting to succeed because it had to outshine the original series, and this is where its greatest failures lie. The new BSG clearly outshined the original (campy) series, but the new BI does not.
I also think Isaiah Washington is thanking his lucky stars that he got out of this series early.
Having said all of this (week in, week out), I have a hunch that NBC might renew this lame series for another year probably due to the investment they've made in this show. They will no doubt start to throw more guest stars in a feeble attempt to keep this show alive, but that won't fix anything.
Hey NBC, do yourselves a favor and look at how the crew of Lost barely turned around a unfavorable season **WITH EXCELLENT WRITING.** That was their only saving grace, and you should do the same with this poor series.

Joy- There is so much vitriol in your comments it is frightening.
And for what it is worth, I've never heard anyone disparage Mr. Washington's acting. In my opinion, people were upset that the big jock was bullying the weaker kid on the playground. In my opinion, race was not a factor in people being mad at him.

Thanks Joy. I don't know what I'd do without my daily dose of Internets Ignorance. Your comments weren't frightening as much as humorously stupid. I'm glad you alerted us the vast white conspiracy that was trying to convince the world that Patrick Dempsey was hot. That mousse is some powerful stuff!
And it was widely announced when Washington joined the show that he was only signed to 6 or 7 episodes, so why is anyone surprised?
