All in the game. HBO has been running these new promos for the fifth and final season of The Wire for about a month or two now. I think I first saw them at the beginning of October. Anyway, they play pretty infrequently and I'm not sure if everyone has seen them. The first is a short promo with no scenes. Just someone typing on a monitor, making general statements about the new season. As you can see from the screenshot above, the more things change, the more they stay the same because it sounds like McNulty is hitting the Jameson again. The second video is a short behind-the-scenes featurette with interviews from David Simon and some cast members. The Wire returns with its final ten episodes on January 6, 2008. Both videos are after the jump.

Nope. The show's creators said that they never planned to film the series in HD and they stuck to it.

Greatest show ever! Also, they are going to be releasing the soundtrack CD two days after the show premieres.
And, season 5 premieres on HBO on Demand on 31st December, a week before it actually airs on HBO.
I swear if this show doesn't win a Best Show Emmy...

God I can't wait for this to start. The Wire is the best TV show ever, seriously. It is so good it ruins the rest of TV for me. Sad to see the last season... looks amazing so far from the previews.

HBO Video Presents The Wire: The Complete Fourth Season out on DVD December 4th!!
The Wire continues to challenge viewers with a "cop show" unlike anything on television. The 13 episodes focus on the experiences of four young boys-through the theme of education, leading viewers to consider the world that awaits them, and to consider further the American commitment to equal opportunity.
Check out the DVD--set to release December 4th!!
