Bernie Mac has signed a deal with FOX to star in a new sitcom.
Starting Under will be about a divorced, opinionated guy who not only finds himself living with his son but also working for him. The show has been giving a large episode order - seven episodes, which I guess is large nowadays - and the deal was finalized just before all this strike stuff happened.
The show comes from Bruce Helford, who created The Drew Carey Show and co-created George Lopez, and the pilot will be directed by Andy Ackerman, who has directed a ton of shows, including Seinfeld, Everybody Loves Raymond, The New Adventures of Old Christine, Two and a Half Men, Becker, Wings, Frasier and Cheers.

That sounds cool. The Bernie Mac show kind of fell apart there again. "Ya heard me America? I'ma kill that baby girl". You can only hear that stuff so much. That's why the show died.
This one could work, it sounds like a creative idea for a sitcom. I'll watch.

I think that Bernie Mac needed a year or so off to think of his next move. I thought that the Bernie Mac show ran out of ideas its 4th year. He was smart to get his sitcom deal long before that strike or the show wouldn't air. He is a very funny actor and comedian and I hope that his new Fox show performs well.
