(S04E06) "Sometimes greatness needs a little nudge." - Milton
The moment of truth arrived: Danielle gave birth. About three weeks ago, I polled TV Squad visitors about the sex of Danielle's baby. Close to 54% of the voters thought it would be a baby girl but spoilers readers knew since mid-September that the baby would be a boy.
This week's episode featured the conclusion of two storylines: Danielle being pregnant and Lynette's battle with cancer. However, these conclusions are opening new paths for upcoming storylines.Danielle
How fantastic was Danielle dressed up as Bree? Even though she was not as neurotic and opinionated as her mother, it was really fun to see her act up as Bree. It was a great costume choice to hide the pregnancy!
So Adam knew Bree was faking her pregnancy. Of course, being a gynecologist, it is not that surprising he discovered it. I'm surprised he didn't say a word though... then again, maybe he did share that juicy gossip with his wife. I'm pretty sure he'll keep the secret about the delivery to himself but you can bet the information will eventually leak out, especially since the kids saw the baby.
Danielle showed Bree that she (Danielle) does have some sort of maternal instinct. After trying her best to distance herself with the baby, Danielle agreed to hold him. She then cried and admitted it was difficult to part ways. I was really surprised when Bree asked her daughter if she wanted to keep the baby. It's a big step for Bree to take because if Danielle had said yes, it would have exposed the fake pregnancy and we know Bree is all about keeping up appearances. That offer shows how Bree connected with her daughter and does love her, even though she doesn't really show it. I believe Danielle made the right decision to let her mother and Orson raise the baby. Danielle is not ready to grow up and take on all the responsibilities that come with motherhood. Plus, it is better for the show to have the lie continue and see Orson and Bree try to raise the boy.
Lynette
A scene was left on the editing room's floor. We were supposed to see Lynette panic during her PET scan because she was afraid of the bad news that could follow. No matter, her battle with the possum showed how she felt toward her cancer and the possibility that chemo therapy didn't work. Tom was really comprehensive. After she told him why she needed to kill the possum, he let Lynette go on. They are probably the best couple on TV right now. It'll be interesting to see if Stella will go back to her own place... I suspect that she won't go home that easily.Gabrielle
Things are definitely heating up! As we pretty much expected, Edie eventually paid Victor a visit to show him the compromising pictures of Carlos and Gaby. If you recall, Victor said that if Gaby ever cheated on him, he would make the man pay... dearly. Carlos better run for his life because Victor is a man on a mission and it would look extremely bad in the polls if people discovered that Gaby cheated on him!
I don't know about you, but I did not believe one word coming out of Victor's mouth when he told Gaby that he would not run for governor. Yeah right. I'm pretty sure things happened this way: Victor heard the message on the answering machine and his father was near by. They discussed their options in order to keep Gaby with him (remember in the season finale we heard the two discuss why Gaby was a great choice for a wife) and decided that Milton should go in first with a money offer. When Gaby turned it down, they decided to play the love card in the hope she would agree and eventually let Victor run for governor. Milton and Victor are great schemers, which is why Gaby and Carlos should go into hiding far far away!
Susan
A new storyline started tonight. Mike is taking pills and the fact that he hides them in the truck makes me believe that Susan doesn't know about them. Did he injure himself? Are the pills for depression? Or maybe he is back in his old drug habit? Only time will tell. For sure, Mike, as Nick told Susan, is not happy. But why? The marriage isn't going that bad. They are having a baby. Could something or someone from the past be at play here? Post your theories below!
Other tidbits of interest:
- Bree making Andrew dress up as Cher.
- Edie warning the IRS about Carlos and then hearing that there is no offshore account!
- Gaby breaking up with Victor over hotel voice mail.
- "Apparently his father can rise from the dead. Let's hope the baby gets the gene." - Susan

I think Mike has high blood pressure! Well not really, but that seems like a very DH solution.

Mike is married to Susan for pete's sake. That's enough for ANYONE to be taking pills.

How brilliant and poignant was that last scene with Lynette? DH doesn't make me cry usually but I seriously came close. Props tp Felicity Huffman. Wow.
Also Joy Lauren (Danielle) showed that playing Marcis Cross' daughter has finally rubbed off on her, handing the baby over to Bree was HANDS DOWN her best work in the entire series. Incredible job.

Loved the show tonight! Danielle played Bree perfectly and Andrew as Cher...too funny. I hope they keep Stella around a while longer, she gets some fo the best lines for sure, plus she helps keep Lynette grounded.
The Mike s/l should be another interesting one. If I was married to a man who had murdered and whose father had murdered...hmmm I might be a little worried about that gene pool for sure!
Another top notch show tonight..DH is back for sure!

very good episode...but...
"That's how it could have happened. But how about this?"
(only if it was nine months since the end of season 2 which im not sure how long it was) danielle's baby was black from the applewhite kid, i know it wouldnt have been feasible because of the timeline now, but that would have been soooo much harder for bree to deal with.
and mikes been taking anti-crazy pills? and it looks like the murderous-tendency runs throught the family, anyone remember crazy-boy zach? (where the hell has that stor line gone?) and we all know somesthing gotta be shady with mike because orson ran him over, might have been something he did personally to orson. he [orson] was always shady
and adam finding out of danielles baby was in fact danielles, and uses it over them to get at the new gay neighbors cause of their problem, and to tie the new neighbors in
and another comedic side-story line, lynette actually killing the gay neighbors dog, and trying to hide it from them.
and to spice things even more up, lynettes cancer being really bad, so mix things up with a housewives permanent (duh) death, it would be traumatic of course! but new and saucy story lines
the edie/carlos/gaby/victor storyline was definitely surprising, what a way to beef up all their characters...
but a very good episode

Mike is taking pills because he's anxious(anxiety medication) to play his role in the book, so he can finally have a life of his own. I was recently found and released from prison(unjustly accused) Sat Nov 4th at 4:45 p.m at Shawnee Mission Park in KS. (Just in the nick of time) My one year marriage ended just as the premiere of Desperate Housewifes aired. Why I did make the proper decision in allowing my wife to have her freedom and thus her fun, I feel the show helped teach her the wrong perception/lessons of how a relationship should function, and all I could do was sit and watch (forcibly) witness her actions, while she considered me a lunatic. I work very hard. I have a sense of humor, but am not up to speed with American Pop Culture and thus can at times be harshly critical. I'm still stuck in the conservative fifities(ie Eisenhower- his quote on foreign militaristic warfare(beware of foreign wars) resulting in a rich economy) framework of mind also i.e. how families should be tight net and younger people should not be having sex at least until they are sixteen. Condoms(a young man's responsibility-no abortion) should be used so that when you recieve your blessed child, you will be mature enough as a parent to properly raise a man or women. I have finally caught up to the present state of affairs and commend the lucky ones on their charitable donations, smiles, laughter, and joy, for it filters throughout the world. I seek freedom for all people, and the laid back unstruggling lifestyle seemed to be enjoyed in California. If you are more fortunate, please extend a helping hand to the less fortunate (ie Sean Penn and John Travolta's actions during Hurrican Katrina) and the many other things the gazillionares do to help the needy, which I do see and commend. My job is yet unfinished, but smile and enjoy your freedom, for attoinment is coming. I just worry about my child, who will most likely not understand me or my actions. He's loving and compassionate, sweet and innocent, and I will have to travel a little to accomplish my task so I cannot spend the amount of time necessary with him to properly train him to be a man-he doesn't listen to me anyway/no one ever does, (but I have faith the Lord will guide him if he struggles). I'm sorry to hear of Hollywood's writers block, but I send encouragement out to keep writing and doing your jobs, laughing and having a good time. The future ahead is one of optimism and a world of peace. Time to close the book, and move onto freedom, equality, and justice for all peoples. One nation under God(do not allow athiests to remove this from the constitution) and America will be forever blessed. These are just my opinions and you are more than free to regard/disregard them if you however you choose. Some people have always felt no one has been watching, but old sins do 'to quote Justin Timberlake'-"what goes around, comes around, comes back around." Well when I write and speak I could of course go on and on and on but know this is time for me to take action. This are just opinions, and not judgements or harsh criticisms, and I know any rationalist would consider my perceptions unclearand usound. xoxo Robert David Markovich

"Tom was really comprehensive."
I'm sorry; what on earth does that mean? How can a person be comprehensive?

Karen, a person can be comprehensive if they have an great range of understanding... you know, if they are adepth at comprehending a wide range of mental properties. meaning, even though he does not have cancer, he realizes how his wife, wanting to get rid of a possum, is dealing with cancer on many levels.
i thought Lynette was excellent in this episode, as well as Danielle. Susan, however, really got on my nerves!

I liked Susan better when she went the entire episode falling over miscellaneous objects. She irritated me last night. Hated seeing the Susan/Mike storyline go dark...again!
Bree...love that chick. Danlielle's mocking was spot on--especially with Mrs. McClusky.

Marc Cherry must be a huge Stephen Sondheim fan...he often uses his lyrics as titles for the episodes.
A great episode overall. :) I love that DH is coming back to form.
