Jimmy Kimmel not only got two paychecks for his twin hosting duties last week, he also set an official world record.
Kimmel filled in for Regis Philbin on Live with Regis & Kelly every day, and when he was done he jumped on a plane (private from ABC, but still) and hosted his late night talk show in Los Angeles. The Guinness Book of World Records has officially named him a world record holder, saying that the 22406 miles he commuted during the week are a record for the Furthest Distance Commuted In One Working Week.
Interestingly, Reege also has a Guinness World Record. In August, 2004, Philbin set the world record for Most Hours On Camera, at 15188. And he's still going strong, too, so that record will be hard to beat.
I hate to argue with officials, but I'm pretty sure I hold the record for furthest commute. At least my three hours back and forth to a newspaper web site job in the late 90s felt like a world record. But I shouldn't complain, considering my commute these days is about 3 feet or so.

Technically, (or at least I'm making the assumption) didn't he get paid while he was on the flight? Therefore making his commute the distance from the studio to the airport?
Just a thought, although, it would be hysterical if GBWR revoked his record because they read this and agreed, however unlikely.

hasn't some executive at some company flown across the world a few times in a week? it just feels like someone else probably flew internationally 7 days a week instead of across country for 5.
those Leer jets though, its not as nice as you'd think. They've stopped serving Caviar!

I'm not a particularly vociferous, ultra-activist greenie, but I have to ask: what in the hell was the point of this? They couldn't have broadcast both shows from New York for the week? Huge waste of time, money, resources, and damage to the environment. I'd have been far more impressed if he'd taken regularly scheduled commercial flights.

The farthest commute within a week would be ANY ISS Soyuz TM flight. To get to the ISS. Takes 1 day to get to the ISS with about 16 orbits, each counting 40.000km. You stay 4 days and then get back. There.
But then they will start aguing "within a week" within two days bla bla bla bla bla.
I just set the world record on posting longwinded posts on this thread. Yeehaw.

To add to Gene Cowan's comment, I say "Amen". Global warming, ozone depletion, etc. be damned. This is the kind of idiot stunt that says to the average Joe "Why bother ?" Why do the little things to contribute when things such as this is done just to promote tv shows? I realize the comparison doesn't exactly add up, but it's certainly how it's conceived. Really, it shameful. I'm not a Democrat, but Al Gore makes a lot of sense. Too bad it's lost when something as needless as this is done.
