According to the Hollywood Reporter, Fox is looking to create a spin-off for Prison Break in the form of the same show but in a women's prison. The speculative name of this show would be Prison Break: Cherry Hill.I realize that there have been television shows about women in prison before. The most popular one is the Australian series called The Prisoner of Cell Block H. The article also mentions a previous Fox short-lived sitcom called Women In Prison.
Admittedly, I don't watch Prison Break, but I hear it's a good show. My guess is that Fox saw the success of the Grey's Anatomy spin-off from ABC and wanted to try something similar. However, keep in mind that this is Fox we're talking about. I'm willing to bet that they would do the show more in the style of those Italian women-in-prison movies from the '70s.
I'm sure this spin-off would have more plot and characterization than those movies ever did. But still, if this comes to fruition, want to bet the first episode has a scene that involves all the women taking a shower together?

Come on, Fox would never stoop to that level.....It would have one in every episode.

I was an avid, crazy Prison Break watcher in the first season, but after that its just been "eh." But, if you've never seen season 1, be sure to get it on DVD and settle in for hours at a time, b/c you'll be hooked.
As for a girlie PB, I already have that - I watch Bad Girls (a Brit import) every Thurs on Logo. Love it. Less like PB, and more like Oz, which IMO, is fantastic. Poisonings, murder, escapes, mental wards, hallucinations, adorable Brit accents...Bad Girls has it all. Oh, and it is by the same writer who gave us Footballer$ Wive$, so its good and trashy....

This is a terrible idea and I don't expect the execution to surprise me, season one of Prison Break was excellent because it had complexity and forced interaction and cause and effect that hasn't been since since they left the grounds. I don't expect this new woman to have the Michael brains to create anywhere near what we saw then since even Michael hasn't been able to pull it off since... and as much as I love Dominic, I'd reccomend renting John Doe before watching a minute more or Prison Break.
