Steven Weber's a really good actor, and NBC must like him a lot. He's going to star in a new sitcom for the network called Zip.
The comedy is about a guy named Trip Stringer (only on TV can someone have a name like that) who is broke and lives in Beverly Hills and always tries to come up with get rich quick schemes with the help of friends. Hopefully this won't be another Knights of Prosperity.
NBC must really have faith in Weber, because they already passed on this show once last year when it was filmed as a pilot (with a different cast). Looks like Ben Silverman really wanted to do the show and it got the green light once Weber was connected. Weber also starred in two other NBC sitcoms, Wings and Cursed (which later became The Weber Show). He really should have been nominated for a supporting actor Emmy last season for Studio 60, so it's good to see that he's going to be back on TV every week in a sitcom (he currently has a role on ABC's Brothers & Sisters).

I used to think of Weber as just another run-of-the-mill actor, but I was amazed by his writing at the Huffington Post. Whether you agree ir disagree with his politics is one thing, but regardless of idelogical bent, the man can flat out write with a punch.

He was the unexpected highlight of STUDIO 60 last year, and I'm actually sorry that his next project is a sitcom.

He was excellent on Studio 60. He could have served better as one of the prominent leads on a drama.

I've always liked Weber, but his shows all seem cursed (pun intended). Unless it's added to the Thursday night line-up, we'll probably be watching everything after the sixth episode online.

Chances are, like most pilots, it won't even see the light of day. But I really hope it does -- I'm a big fan of Weber!

Weber cannot write with punch. He writes like he's showing off for an Ivy League professor, only he's not quite sure what all the words mean.
It's horribly pretentious. I don't even care about the politics...he;s a God-awful writer and a C-list actor.

I wish him the best of luck - let's hope it isn't another "Cursed". (That one was actually pretty good but they canceled it very quickly.)

Studio 60 should have stayed on TV. Too many dorks watching CSI or someone removing a lung. Something refreshing comes on TV and no one can't comprehend what it is about. Weber will bounce back possibly but if not than bring back Wings. Why not? Better than half the comedies on now.

I was on the fence about Weber when he was on Wings. But I agree that he was delightful on Studio 60. Not only can he act, but he can handle Sorkinese very well.
I miss Sorkin.
