If it's Sunday, it must be Stephen Colbert.
The late night blowhard and new Presidential candidate will be the guest on NBC's Meet The Press on Sunday. Several readers over at The Huffington Post aren't too sure about this appearance. Some are saying it's "misguided," while others think he's taking the schtick too far and that he himself has become "a joke." On the contrary, I think this is all part of some genius performance art, from his show to his speech at the White House Correspondents Dinner to his book to his talk show appearances, he's going all out with the character.
I'm reading the book, I Am America (And So Can You!). It's quite funny, but you can't read too much of it all at once. It all gets to be a little too much, and what can be funny in small doses just becomes overkill.
Now the only question is: will he appear as Stephen Colbert, comedian and writer, or "Stephen Colbert," the character he plays on Comedy Central?

He was on Letterman and it was kind of interesting cuz he would go in and out of character a few times (mostly out). But he's not like the whole Borat thing where he refuses to admit being someone else.

I don't think it's a joke joke, it's more about satire of how the government is run.
i think it's smart.

It doesn't matter to me if he's his "character" or himself. He's hysterical and smart either way. I can't wait for Meet The Press this Sunday! :) Good times!

The real question is, how much will Tim Russert giggle as he has a tendency to do?

Personally, I like the idea of him running, but I wish he would take it a little more serious. The night he announced was awesome and how he did it too, but the following night he came across as to say "I'm just playing around here".
What I want from a canidate is somebody who is totally honest and doesn't give a damn about polls. Who makes decisions based on what he believes and doesn't try to please everybody. So far no canidate has shown any of that.

Actually, I would rather vote for Colbert than just about anyone else out there, except, I guess, for Kucinich, since with him you get Pocket Colbert thrown in for free!

Genius? Really? Wow. Howard Stern did this years ago. I think he's just found a very clever way to sell his book.

I think he's pushing his luck. He's trying to see if he can get over the shark without jumping it.

Scott! He has jumped the shark many times, just for fun, and then reversed it many times...

I just watch his appearance. Russet seemed less and less amused as they went along. I thought Colbert was hilarious myself.
