Who knew that the American version of Whose Line is it Anyway? would produce so many game show hosts. We have Drew Carey on Power of 10 and Price is Right, Wayne Brady on Don't Forget the Lyrics, and now Improv veteran and bald Adonis, Colin Mochrie, will be hosting a Canadian version of an American game show.
Colin will be hosting Are You Smarter Than a Canadian 5th Grader, which will premiere on Canada's Global network on October 25th. The show will duplicate the format of America's Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader, which airs on FOX and is hosted by comedian Jeff Foxworthy.
The program will originate from the Canadian Broadcasting Centre in downtown Toronto (a really snazzy piece of architecture, if I must say) and will include questions that are relevant to Canadian history and culture. The top prize will be a tax-free one million dollars (Canadian).
Canadian 5th Grader will air for five straight weeks on Thursday nights. More information on the show and the group of 5th graders picked can be found at Global's website.

Don't forget that Greg Proops used to host some game show on Comedy Central, one that I'm too lazy to look up right now.

It should be called, "Are You Smarter than a Student in Grade 5" since most Canadians don't say "5th Grade".

Yay for Canada. Every time they bring one of these shows up to Canada the prize here is bigger than in the states. The difference used to be very small.
When they brought Millionaire here the Canadian Dollar was at 0.65 US. Considering a 40% tax on the American show the prize there was $600,000 vs $650,000 in Canada.
Now that the Canadian Dollar is at par or even higher than the American the prize in the states is still only $600,000 and here in Canada its a full 1,000,000.
So the point is, Canadians rule!

Far too long has Canada been made fun of for our lousy dollar (Loonie). Now it is our turn. If the show was today you would win 1,020,435.01 USD......tax free! Canada does rule! Soon we shall rule the world........don't worry, we shall be very polite about taking over the world.

I thought it would have been a hoot if Ryan Stiles and Clin Mochrie had relaced Barker's Beauties on The Price is Right. Can't you just see them gesturing toward the merchandise and leering into the camera?

The Australian version of 5th grader is hosted by a comedian/talk show host named Rove McManus. I prefer him to Jeff Foxworthy, though Colin Mochrie could be good.

Yes, Nahid, that is the first thing I thought of when I heard this news! "Fifth Grade" and "Fifth Grader" strike my ears as Americanisms - no one here says that. Vive "Grade 5"!
