I'm talking about the American version of the show. I'll put the answer to this question on the second page, but it's actually pretty easy to figure out. Just remember that The Grass Roots was a band in the 1960s and 70s (that leaves out 98% of the cast right there, they're too young) and that it was all male (that leaves out Pam and Angela, even if they were old enough). I think you've probably figured out who it is by now, but that doesn't make the video after the jump any less amusing.
He's the one on the left in the striped sweater.
It's Creed Bratton! He plays Creed, of course. It's from The Jimmy Durante Show. Not sure why the audience laughs so hard when Jimmy introduces the group.

He's NOT the one on the right who yells "One, Two, Three Four!" He's on the far left, with a solo at the 1:13 remaining mark.

I'm pretty sure Creed's actually playing himself (or at least a pretty twisted version of himself). Hasn't the character Creed discussed the Grass Roots on the show?

He has mentioned on the show that he used to be in the band Grass Roots. There's even a deleted scene on the 3rd season DVDs where a news paper reporter asks him if he was Creed from the Grass Roots.

There is also a deleted scene from Booze Cruise in season 2 where he plays guitar on the boat and in a talking head mentions the Grass Roots. Here is the quote:
"Back in the '60s, I was with the Grass Roots. We toured with Janis Joplin, The Doors, Cream. We had a lot of fun, And now I do quality assurance for a paper company. As you can imagine, drugs played a part. They still do. My work calls last about 90 seconds, and that's about as long as I can concentrate."

This post makes no sense, what Office fan didn't know that CREED BRATTON was in that band!
The only thing you did was give a decent link to an old clip from the show Jimmy Durante once hosted called "The Hollywood Palace" and you didn't even give a good link to that! This clip should be in color because this was filmed in 1967 and that show transitioned to color during '65. It's on youtube in color somewhere and Creed's stripes are like a dark blue, much darker than the drum kit lol.
Again though, horrible blog entry Mr. Sassone, I feel like this should be dated over a year ago, it's old news.

Ah, yes, he's on the left. I'll fix that.
And as for what Office fan wouldn't know that Creed was in The Grass Roots, I would say most. It's one thing for a character to say it in a TV show, it doesn't mean it actually happened in real life.

Well, there's this thing about "The Office" Bob, it has diehard fans that have access to this thing called the internet. It was mentioned and Creed has a 'rabid' following and it's been talked about on boards, on clips etc. Besides, where do you get your "most" data in regards to fans of the show not knowing that?
That isn't even what irked me really lol. This post, did you copy and paste it from some site that is behind in the times? It just seems like this was an afterthought or filler and not like your writing really. I'm not trying to personally attack you, anyone that is a NR fan, is cool in my book.
Think about it, Creed and the fact that he is Creed Bratton from The Grass Roots was pointed out. Like Toby, you missed the boat on this one (yes this is in reference to the "Booze Cruise" episode that was in the middle of the 2nd season). It was in this episode that Creed rocks it out in deleted scenes that were on youtube and such, the same site that you got the Grass Roots' video from. Creed is a popular character and as most people are today, they are fascinated with the people behind the character. He even has his own blog that is pimped by NBC every chance they get.

To nate:
lol good question, as was common at that time during those types of TV shows, they usually didn't play live. Even in the the video that Dan Buckley posted, you can see mics but if you look at the guitars, they aren't connected. It's very hard to find this song live, at least on TV shows of this sort.
I mentioned that the link origninally provided by the blogger was not even the correct color version. Here is the link to the same song, same show but in all of it's color glory lol. Bands of this period are so much better in color so you can see the types of clothes they wore, it's great stuff.

Hey rich c, great addition to the conversation, that was very insightful. People like you used to annoy me (until I realized the stupidity of most people), but thanks for the compliment, it usually comes from the haters that don't "understand" things so they just come back with a simple insult. I've done my job well then, oh and people like you, rich and d-bo, you can get off of Bob's nutsack now.
Trolls are people that come on and do nothing but flame and I've not done that on other threads nor this one (I even said so to Sassone). Get your thoughts collected before you post perhaps hmm?
Now how annoying am I? lol
