It used to be that a band would debut a new song either on a tape that they handed out to fans at a club or on a radio station. Now they're debuting on cable news shows.
REM will debut their new song "Until The Day Is Done" tonight at 10 on CNN's Anderson Cooper 360. This isn't the first time they've used Cooper's show to debut something. The "Bad Day" video was first seen on the show five years ago. Tonight the song will be used during scenes from the special Planet in Peril.
CNN is sure hip these days. Did you see Kid Rock's interview with Larry King? It was...surreal. He even got Larry to wear a hat like he has! It's odd, from the weird opening where Kid Rock walks onto the stage and Larry tells him to sit down to talk about Tommy Lee. He even mentions MTV Cribs and I'm sure Larry has no idea what he's talking about. Video is below:

The 2 hour block on CNN from 9pm-11pm, Monday thru Wednesday, is THE best 2 hours of TV! You get all the A-list weirdness on Larry King, followed by just some terrific We Are Bad Ass Way Cooler Than Fox Hipster Tuned-In Journalists Here on Anderson Cooper. What's not to love? They should really be pimping that whole 2 hour block in a whole new way. The stuff's just plain cool, as you just said. And no, I don't shill for Turner Media Plantations, although, come to think about it, I really should!
