"Cruel Intentions": President Bush doesn't want us to think that our government tortures, but he's not doing a particularly good job. Jon wasn't kidding when he said that he wanted to turn back the clock. "O-tay"? Seriously? I suppose Buckwheat references are coming back into style.Senior Interrogation Analyst John Oliver stopped by to elaborate and make the distinction between some very important words. That giddy applause when Oliver popped on-screen was well-deserved. He hasn't gone wrong in a long time (if ever). Oh, and what was up with all the grammar jokes at the top of the show?
"Trapped in the Senate": Aww, I missed that R. Kelly guy from the last Senator Larry Craig segment. Shame that he couldn't make it this time again. Senior Legal Correspondent Samantha Bee's bit was all right, but I was too busy trying to get the image of Senator Craig as Effie out of my head. It's official: Any Dreamgirls reference while discussing Congress is absolutely spectacular. Bonus points if the Singing Senators are involved. I'm tellin' you.
The night's guest was former president of Mexico, Vicente Fox, promoting his new book Revolution of Hope: The Life, Faith, and Dreams of a Mexican President. I was concerned this was going to be another interview with a strange language barrier, but my worries were assuaged when Fox started things off with that joke. It was interesting to hear what he thought of Evo Morales, which probably crushed Jon because he seemed to love that interview (a lot of you readers did too). I'm intrigued by how these leaders feel about each other and I think it'd be great if the show brought all of them together and held a discussion. It wouldn't be that hard to gather all the folks from the United Nations and have them sit down to do something for Comedy Central, right?
Moment of Zen: FOX News shows us that waterboarding isn't as fun as it looks.
Oh, man. You know what I just realized? Stephen Colbert's book, I Am America (And So Can You!), comes out today. He totally needs to come on the Daily Show and do an interview. It would warm my cold, joyless heart oh-so very much.

there's no secret of the enmity between fox and the likes of chavez and morales. fox is very tied into the free market (he was big in coca cola in mexico) and nafta while chavez/morales have done their best to nationalize everything in sight. but hey, they all speak spanish so they must think the same!
