Late last year, Julia told you about the TV version of the Aaron Eckhart movie Thank You For Smoking. Back then the show was being developed for NBC, but now comes word that the show will be seen on USA instead.
The TV version of the movie - which showed the ups and downs in the life of a morally flexible man who worked for the tobacco industry - will take place after the film and show the Nick Naylor character working for other people. The script will be written by James Dodson. The film was based on the novel by Christopher Buckley.
This makes sense for NBC I guess (it's good to own other properties like USA, Bravo, and The Sci-Fi Channel), and it can join the successful lineup of Monk, Psych, and Burn Notice, that has made USA quite a hip network. But if this is going to be a quality drama/comedy, I wonder why they wouldn't develop it for the network? NBC needs another drama. Who knows if Bionic Woman, Journeyman and Friday Night Lights will be around next year, Law and Order: SVU is getting old, Law and Order: CI is already on USA, and ER is in it's final season (probably).

Law and Order may be getting old, but it's not disappearing anytime soon. Law and Order: CI is not on the network anymore because of political reasons - it has nothing to do with the quality of or NBCs faith in the show.
(I'm not a L&O fan, I'm just saying...)

I thought the movie was kind of dull, hopefully the TV show is better.
