The CW has ordered a full season of Gossip Girl, making it the first new series to get the go-ahead. Gossip Girl has been posting impressive numbers for the network, and just got a 9% viewership boost from just-released DVR ratings. It's also doing well in iTunes, currently #3 and #5 of the Top 10 TV show downloads.Gossip Girl is the latest creation from Josh Schwartz, creator of The O.C. and Chuck. It's about an anonymous blogger called Gossip Girl who has all the dirt on the teens at a Manhattan prep school.
I haven't seen this yet, but am thinking about buying the first 3 episodes from iTunes. I'm a fan of Josh Schwartz's work (except season 3 of The O.C., but I'll just forget it ever existed!) I need a good guilty pleasure to replace CSI. What do you guys think of Gossip Girl?

It's good guilty pleasure. I don't watch it live, I watch it on Sundays when the CW play encores, but it does provide more fun than Bionic Woman and Private Practice which I *do* watch on Wednesdays. Go figure.

I couldn't even make it through the pilot episode of this. I so wanted to like it because I love Kristen Bell. I just couldn't do it though. Why would anyone gossip about pointless prep school brats on a website. Ugh.

I agree with Ryan, I do the same. Larry, if you've watched the show you know that no one really "reads" a website - they all get the updates texted to their PDA's and various other devices. This show, while basically a high school soap opera, is still witty and although the characters on paper are basic stereotypes, I credit the young actors to turn most of the characters into people I'm actually interested in. I don't know what night it would do better on, but I know it's not Wednesday. I might have to time shift it less if it were on another night. I think it would be a good compliment to REAPER. Admittedly though I don't watch all too much on the CW. I'm glad it's gotten a full season order!

I am glad that Gossip Girl has gotten a full season.. It is the only actual television show I watch besides Friday Night Lights.
Is anyone going start the recap for it on TV Squad...because that would be awesome..

I think it's great, and I don't feel guilty at all about the fact that I enjoy it. I think the show is doing a great job of telling an interesting story. It reminds me a lot of Cruel Intentions.

I am a big fan of Josh Schwartz & his writing. Remember not to hang the 3rd season of the OC on him - he didn't write it. He did come back for the fabulous 4th season though. Chuck is really well done too.
I watch the show - I like the cast (both dynamic of younger teens & the adult drama - just like the OC). I will continue to tune in. Oh and I am 30.

I am in love with the show. My sister and I have read all the books. She is 16 and i am 22. The first book came out when i was in high school. Both of us watch ANTM and then watch gpssip girl. I downloaded the first episode for free on itunes. I am also a huge kristen bell fan so it's great just hearing her voice! I am so exicted for her to be on heroes. I am an intern at the CW so i got a chance to see all of the pilots before they permired on tv. Gossip girl was on of my faves by far. :)
