When Dennis Miller took over doing the color commentary on Monday Night Football several years back, fans of the show either loved him completely or hated him completely. You either really dug his arcane references and humor or you sighed a lot and wondered why he was in the booth (for the record, I don't really like football, so I didn't mind him in the booth at all). Now sports fans can relive those glory days!
Miller has signed a deal with the Versus channel to host a weekly sports talk show. The show will film in front of a live audience, and while it will feature the usual Miller trademarks of a newsy monologue and rant, it will mostly center around the world of sports. The show will film in Santa Barbara, CA, where Miller resides. It starts Nov. 6 at 10pm.
Now if we can only find Versus on our cable systems. I think I was flipping the channels around late one night up near the 150s and came across an international badmintion championship. That might have been on Versus.

Versus is still the new home to the NHL right? I know nationally televised hockey games tank in the ratings, even in the playoffs, but I would think that most cable companies carry the network.

I'm not sure if Versus is a step up or a step down from GSN (Game Show Network), where Miller was last seen co-hosting "Grand Slam". The greatest feature of "Grand Slam" was that the ridiculous and superfluous commentary Miller provided was chopped up into nice short segments, which made it easier to skip past and get to the interesting part of the show.

Versus used to be Outdoor Life Network. I just hope they keep him doing cycling commentary.

...from doing cycling commentary. Stick with the football, Dennis, and leave cycling to Phil and Paul. Please.

Dennis Miller SUCKS!!!!! He wasn't funny as a standup comic, he ruined SNL news, he's failed at every attempt he's made to "come back".....give it up already! What marketing geniuses keep giving this guy jobs?

I think he's funny. Plus, he says what he feels and doesn't give a shit if you like it or not. I love that!

Ginger SUCKS!!! Her comments show a complete lack of knowledge about stand up comedy. (You probably like Dane Cook or Carrot Top. Good for you, li'l trooper). Miller did several HBO specials, plays theaters, Vegas etc. So there's a definite proven track record of success.
Try commenting on things you have some knowledge of.

Miller was hilarious back in the '80s and '90s. It's rare to see a decline so steep. He's gotten to the point where he has to dumb down for his new audience while his political views just aren't funny. I don't know what happened to him, but it's kind of distressing.

Some performers get chance after chance, long after it should be obvious that very few people want to watch them.
Miller's chances are as good as Chevy Chase and Magic Johnson's were.
Since turning into a right winger, attacking progressives and supporting the Idiot in Chief, Miller is even less funny than he was before.

Has there ever been a study why male professional athletes want to look like a woman with Long hair, earrings, necklaces and even some with purses?
I think the manly look would be much more macho.
