Time for one of the best ironic Bush moments in recent weeks! Yep, it's the president's very educational slip-up. Maybe it's the sleep deprivation, but I spent most of the episode quietly chuckling at Jon's "'Childrens do learn'? Oh, does they?!" Damn sleep deprivation."Straight Outta Congress": Congress is taking on the popular language of the hip-hop genre. Congress and hip-hop! The two go hand-in-hand, like trout and peanut butter. Anyway, this was the first time in a long time that I've heard anybody say "the H-word". And Jon mocking the NWA question was absolutely beautiful.
"'BAD'vertising": It seems like no one is particularly fond of MoveOn.org's Petraeus/Betray Us ad. I kept waiting for that "Amadeus" graphic, but it didn't happen! My poor little heart was crushed.
Senior Black Correspondent Larry Wilmore filed a report in response to Bill O'Reilly's recently expressed shock that the soul food restaurant Sylvia's in Harlem isn't all that different from other restaurants in New York. O RLY, O'Reilly? Wilmore did a great job on this report. The moments were fantastic, so spot-on.The night's guest was Ken Burns, producer of PBS' The War and fan of awkward hair/facial hair combinations. I still haven't decided if I liked this interview because I'm genuinely interested in the subject matter or because Burns did a good job of pushing the strong points. Well, either way, the interview focused intensely on the series and managed to pique my interest.
Jon/Stephen: Mr. Colbert's new book, I Am America (And So Can You!), is coming out soon. Buy two books for the price of one book, twice. Moment of Zen: Eric Dyson of Know What I Mean? has a sweet way with words.
In some slightly related news, I'm watching Late Night with Conan O'Brien right now and former Daily Show correspondent Ed Helms suddenly broke into a song from "Les Misérables". I'm so confused.
