I think Clark knew that the sun gave him his power. But he'd been on Earth so long, he had just taken it for granted.

And I think the red blur that carried Bizarro to the sun was the Martian Manhunter. He told Clark he would help.

I'm looking forward to learning more about Kara's backstory.

Glad Chloe lived, but wouldn't be sad if Lana hadn't.

I haven't watched the premiere yet, so I skipped most of the review, but I do have it on my PVR. I can't stomach the idea of supergirl being on the show. I have a strong dislike for the term "jump the shark" but this is what this feels like.

I mean are we even close to resolving any of Clarks "issues" in regards to his transition to superman? And know we have a whole bunch of her/supergirl stuff to deal with.

Smallville should of decalred and end date, and let this season be the end. I love the show and I can feel it slipping away, I had no intrest in even tuning in this year, but the few lines I skimmed of the review seemed positve, so maybe I'll give it a chance.

The term Bi-Clark-o makes it sound like one of the Double-Ls he wants to bed is Lex.

Also, the one thing that bugged me in the opener is that Clark's decision to use his heat vision to stop the wall of water... shouldn't that have boiled Lex to death?

I'm going to agree with the first poster and say that the Red Blur we saw grab Bizarro was the Manhunter. He had told Clark he would help but it wasn't his fight, and Clark didn't look at all surprised or shocked when the Blur swept in and grabbed Bizarro. I also think Chloe made some mention of Bizarro being on the 'Sunny side of Mars' which would say to me the Manhunter had something to do with it.

Manhunter took him to space. It was obvious. He couldn't help Clark during the fight but he would help. When he flies, he leaves a red swoosh. The show is definitely not slipping away as one reader suggests. Always has the best finales and premieres and this season will be just as good as the previous 6. It'll be interesting to see how Lana gets involved again and who pulled Lionel ashore.

I think Supergirl is here to help Clark learn more about himself; flying, the sun, etc. And the whole butt grabbing thing, I didn't understand why that was even needed, but I sense a future romance with Lois and Clark...I know it is the comics, but it hasn't happened on Smallville yet.

From my perspective, if clark does finally fly it will be awesome.. as martian manhunter would teach him, or a love interest with super kara would develop throughout this season. Lana will return, as the writers would either have clark see her all of a sudden and then become confused between whether he wants his past love of lana or new love of kara. or, my view is that through the original movies suggests, lana leaves and disappears for years before meeting clark at the reunion, so they have room for anything creativewise there.

lex luthor can never die, he is like an ambiant light that shines thru black holes. its like his part in smallville brings suspense between good and evil. I enjoy the things , but i am in awe everytime lex shows he has feelings for clark.. like in this season premiere.

Oh and for Lois ( she is too hot to be Lois honestly ),
if they stick to the scripts, Lois knows clark from smallville when they both work at the daily planet, but Lois thinks clark is a loser, and superman is her lover.

so all in all, i am excited for this season!

You forgot to mention the scene when Clark tells Chloe that Bizzaro can fly and she say, "Clark you better start working on that one then." I guess thats the writers way of saying that they know we're getting impatient with Clark flying. Also did anyone notice that existing cast members names got switched around on the credits?

First off, Kara and Kal-el are cousins. I don't think romance will come between the two.

This was a really good episode in a long time. I hope they keep up the pace for the entire season, and not just for the premiere and finale. The writing was strong and the flow of the episode was believable. I really hope the fight scenes between Clark and villian can be longer. Perhaps they can drag out through a couple of scenes?

Those of you who think it was the Martian Manhunter who took Bizarro Clark off to the sun are forgetting one very important detail. The Martian Manhunter cannot deal with FIRE! He might have taken BC out into space but the closer he got to the sun, the weaker he would have become.

I really love what they've done with Smallville the last several seasons. I think the first couple of seasons, the show was written in a manner that was at least similar to the silver age Superboy comics. Seasons five and six were HUGE departures from that style however and I'm thrilled with the way all the characters have been developing. There's a huge hole in that transition from "Boy of Steel" to "Man of Steel". Ditto young Lex to grownup Lex. For whatever reason, no one has really tried to bridge those two sections of mythos into one complete storyline. Adding all the young JLA characters seemed like a terrible idea to me at first but now that I can see why they did it and where they are potentially going with it, I'm on board now.

A lot of posters last season gave up and said that Smallville has jumped the shark. I think the plotlines and direction they are taking are right where they need to be. We know there has to be something HUGE that happens that basically shatters everything as we know it in order for the "Superman Universe" to be created and become what we're all familiar with. We're getting to that point, folks. I think this last season or two are gonna be doozies!

The writers keep teasing us with flying - Kal-el flew a couple of seasons ago but Clark can't - but remember the producers have always said "no flights, no tights," which has always been interpreted as meaning that he wouldn't put on the suit and fly until the end of the last. Still they're running out of new powers unless they want to introduce "super-ventriloquism" (and that was indeed a real power during the 1960s and '70s).

So, when the heck are they going to kill Lana? I can't be the only one who's sick to death of her. She serves no purpose on the show anymore and I wish they'd let her die in that explosion.

Huh?? Why would he have to leave the earth's atmosphere to heal then? That would put him closer to the sun...Also he is from Mars, why couldn't he go back? And since the trail behind the figure was RED it had to be Manhunter, Kara's was a different color.

Clark doens't fly because he is scared of heights!!

Kevin - J'onn J'onzz would have to be NEAR the sun for the flames to affect him. Just going out of the earth's atmosphere would not have the same effect as flying TO the sun. Here's more info on the Martian Manhunter's powers and weaknesses:

"J'onzz is a native of the planet Mars, also known as Ma'aleca'andra in his native tongue. (This is a nod to "Malacandra," the name used by the inhabitants of Mars in C. S. Lewis's novel Out of the Silent Planet. This is a much later addition and not part of the original version of the character.) As originally depicted, J'onn had the powers of intangibility, invisibility, telepathy and shape-shifting. As the years progressed he developed the powers of flight, "Martian vision" (a combination of heat and X-ray vision), super-strength, super-speed and super-stamina. His usual public appearance is as a tall, hairless, green-skinned humanoid with a pronounced brow. He is highly sensitive to fire, which weakens him and prevents him from being able to use his powers at all."

I'm ready to see him use some of his powers in this show. If he's really going to play an active role in Clark's life, JJ needs to start turning green once in a while and shape shifting more than the one form we have always seen him take thus far. Also, fire is like kryptonite for him. As far as I can remember, they haven't even brought that up yet! Go J'onn go!
