Joseph recently emailed us in response to our The Singing Bee Vs. Don't Forget The Lyrics article to ask: I would like to know how you apply to be a contestant. I watch the show all the time. Thank you!Back in March, TV Squadder Joel Keller provided us with a list of sites where we could find details on how to apply for various reality and game shows. Since then, a new crop of game and reality shows made its way to a small screen near us. Bee and Lyrics are two of the most popular new games shows that premiered over the summer.
I did a little digging and found out how Joseph, and everyone else, can apply for Bee and Lyrics.
NBC has a section on its site devoted to casting for game and reality shows. They are currently casting for 1 vs 100, American Gladiators, America's Got Talent, Deal or No Deal, Make Me a Supermodel, The Singing Bee, Dr. Steve-O, and Stand Up for Diversity.
To apply for The Singing Bee, all you have to do is fill out an online application and email it to the address provided on the page. Make sure you read the eligibility requirements before doing so.
Application for Don't Forget the Lyrics is a bit more complicated. The Lyrics' casting page lists open casting call dates. However, there are no upcoming casting calls. But fear not, you still have a way to apply! You'll need to make a 5-minute videotape of yourself and the two supporters you would like to bring along if you are chosen. Details on what the videotape must include, the required paper work, and how to submit them can be found on the page I linked to before.
Good luck and may the best singer win!
