Wow, talk about not knowing who to root for.
Bill O'Reilly is hotter than...well, something that gets really hot...at CNN anchor Rick Sanchez. O'Reilly made some comments on his Radio Factor show that many, including MediaMatters.org, have taken as racist. And O'Reilly is ticked off at the media in general and CNN/Sanchez in particular. He actually called Sanchez about the way CNN handled the story. Sanchez said that O'Reilly "screamed at the top of his lungs."
O'Reilly is fighting back on his show, saying that "CNN has lost all credibility with me and this network, and it's just a shame. We knew that MSNBC were a bunch of smear merchants. We didn't expect it from CNN."
You can listen to O'Reilly said here and judge for yourself. The specific quote that is getting people irked is this one:
"And I couldn't get over the fact that there was no difference between Sylvia's restaurant and any other restaurant in New York City. I mean, it was exactly the same, even though it's run by blacks, primarily black patronship."
I have no idea if O'Reilly had any intent other than just reporting what he saw, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. If you listen to the entire clip, it does seem like he's being really condescending, clueless, and very, very white.

You forgot to mention he also followed that quote up with "There wasn't one person in Sylvia's who was screaming, 'M-Fer, I want more iced tea."
To me that is the racist part, not the quote you put in.

O'Reilly smears people all the time. Including the other networks. The only reason why he went off on Rick Sanchez on his program is to get his "followers" more against CNN and less against himself for his comments. He reminds me of that guy you work for that wants to look up the girls skirts and talks about it all the time like you actually care. He's the guy you meet and want to run away from. Blah. Screw him. Keep spinnin', buddy.

I'm sorry, remind me again how people act "white?"
White is a color. You can't behave like a color.
You're going to stereotype white people as acting a certain way?
This whole blog is very chartreuse if you ask me.
....anything can be racist if you want it to be. Unless he says "I hate this or that race" or makes some kind of action, everything else is just ignorant stereotypes.

Oh, BS. I listened to that whole exchange (it was on Digg), and the point O'Reilly was making was anything *but* racist. I really dislike O'Reilly and think he's an arrogant prick who just yells a lot, but on this one he's actually not the bad guy. People are taking things out of context, quoting inflammatory parts without listening to the tone of the piece. Know how they say that *what* you say is far less important than how you say it? This is one of those times.
O'Reilly was talking about how the perception of black culture has been co-opted, to some extent, by gangsta rap and the media's overall portrayal of it, when in actuality it's just like any other culture. Go find and *listen* to the whole exchange, don't just selectively quote things out of context.

MediaMatters going after Bill O'Reilly is just what they do. They pull quotes out of context from conservative broadcasters to create controversy where none would exist normally. They're bigger scumbags than O'Reilly because their whole purpose is to inflate partisan bickering.

I saw South Park yesterday and the episode where Randy is on Wheel of Fortune
Category: "People Who Annoy You"

I loved it how the reverend Jesse Jackson then lowered his pants to have Randy a... apolo... apologiiize...
Lovely done.
Hate O'Reilly. But to quote a comedian who's name I forgot:
"I have some black friends, or african american if you're kind of difficult..."

It was taken out of context of a larger part talking about preconceived notions people had regarding race. He was making a point how some belive in stereotypical views of African Americans and wouldn't go into the same restaurant versus going into an Italian restaurant in a predominantly Italian neighborhood.
Juan Williams, an African American news analyst who also reports on Fox besides NPR belives it was also taken entirely out of context. But of course the media isn't going to report the full story just the little clip that they can use and say can you believe what he said?
Why let truth get in the way of a good story?

Bullshit. You don't have to like them, but don't claim they don't provide the entire context. That's false and easily disproven by simply going to their website.
Here's the original link to the O'Reilly article:
http://mediamatters.org/items/200709210007?f=h_top
Here's Media Matters for America Senior Fellow Paul Waldman addressing O'Reilly's claim that Media Matters takes things out of context:
http://mediamatters.org/items/200709260001?f=h_top
However, they do create controversy where none would have existed simply because the rightwingers like O'Reilly and Limbaugh have been spewing their crap for years and no one in the main stream media would blink. It's about time somebody exposed to the world the kind of hateful garbage that is their stock and trade.

I'll bet you've never actually read a report from Media Matters. I'll bet you heard this from someones talk show.
Seriously. Go to their site, check one of their reports.
I'll admit they have a bias--they do favor the left (and if you listen to Air America, they say their fair share of nutty things too).

Bill O'Reilly is probably one of the LEAST racist broadcasters I have listened to. I am so sick of the liberal media and everything they take out of context. Even Juan, who happens to be black, felt that what they were saying about O'Reilly was pretty far fetched.

Listen to the whole diatribe. O'Reilly is a bigot and a racist, not to mention a sexual harasser (remember the "settlement" he agreed to with a former staffer?) He's also a liar; he lies about where he actually grew up, and that's been de-bunked time and again. How about all the Peabody Awards he says that he won? He didn't win a damn one! And you don't believe O'Reilly is racist? Remember, he is not a journalist; he's a suck up for the right wing. Keith Oberman will eventually beat him in his own time slot, because Oberman really doesn't spin anything, just O'Reilly's bobble head!

Media Matters for America has exposed itself for the fraudulent organization it really is. O'Reilly treats Al Sharpton to a dinner in a Black restaurant and marvels at how nice the restaurant and their clientèle were, yet somehow they're outraged?! Are they angry because O'Reilly pointed out that all Black people aren't like they're portrayed in liberal Hollywood and reported in the liberal media? That the Black culture isn't dominated by Twista, Ludacris and Snoop Dogg, and Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton do not speak for and represent all Black people.

CNN is an also-ran compared to O'Reilly's ratings. CNN leans to the left so CNN can't be taken seriously. It doesn't surprize me that some CNN reporter would try to make O'Reilly look bad. It's just a case of envy on CNN's part.

This is America--people are entitled to speak their thoughts without have someone try to read something suggestive into them. Tolerance!

It is out of context, He was saying that the Racism that Al Sharpton and others claim publicly doesn't exist in daily life.
Just as you can go to dominet china town, or dominant ittalian, you can go into dominant black, or a dominant white. We just co exist now-a-days. It isn't the gangsta rap portrayed in daily life. With constant racism, One person telling another its cause they are black/white.
I don' see racism anywhere, to be honest. It only seems to show on the blacks. We have been trying so hard to fix what the past has done that it has turned into and unblanaced scale. It seems there will always be that one person who doesn't take responibilty. Doesn't care if he didn't get the job cause he wasn't qualified. He will only see he is black and he didn't get the job. There will always be that person who says 'im black/white you have to do for me"

I would of been surprised too.
In my area, M-fer is used constantly, in fact if you go out in public with your family you may as well accept the fact your family/kids will hear that and the people saying have NO regard for little kids being present.
Experience says it all.
