It's no secret that I'm a fan of the reality television genre. I think why I'm enamored with reality television on the whole is because I'm a people-watcher type of person. Sort of like Sylar on Heroes, I like to see what makes people tick. And what better television medium is there to watch them tick, scheme, plan, and more than the reality genre? For me, the villains come in two categories -- the few whose appearances on the shows I've just outright loved because they were thoroughly entertaining even though devious and sneaky, then the ones who irked me to no end and I wanted them to go away.
I don't watch every show out there, but here are my sinister seven of reality television. After all, Spider-Man had his Sinister Six ... I want seven!
I'm going to start out with the one I enjoyed the most ...
1. Dr. Will Kirby, the winner of Big Brother 2, as well as a stint on Big Brother All Stars. I'd say Dr. 90210, but I just can't get into that show. From the start of BB2, I was hooked on the supreme puppetmaster of reality television. His strategy that season was to tell people he was going to lie to their faces, then he'd go ahead and do it! He didn't win not a single competition that season, but he brought home the important win of the game -- the half-million prize for first place.
Since I've always been a feeds-watcher when it comes to Big Brother, he's provided me with several hours of laughs over the years. After all, who can forget him tormenting Nicole with the radio-controlled car in BB2? Who can forget his internet love in BB All Stars? He's intelligent, witty, charismatic, charming and, not to mention, easy on the eyes, too! (Yes, I can be shallow -- I'm a sucker for his smile!)
Hands down ... Dr. Will Kirby is my favorite villain of reality television. I love to love him! A unicorn? I'd like that!
2. Richard Hatch, as he was in the first season of Survivor -- Survivor: Borneo. The genre was still relatively new in mainstream network television when the fat naked gay guy graced (disgraced at times) our television screens. Although later he acted obnoxiously on Survivor All Stars and evaded taxes on his winnings for the first season, I'm basing my admiration for him solely on the first season of Survivor.
From the first episode of that original season, I pegged Hatch as the sole Survivor. He wasn't particularly attractive, even less so when he wandered around camp naked. But he was a man with a plan and an excellent manipulator of people. He provided food for the others to make himself valuable, as well as being the first to delve into creating alliances. I found him intelligent, funny, and very astute at dealing with others.
Richard Hatch so impressed me that first season of Survivor that I recorded his evil "heh, heh, heh" we'd see in the confessionals and used it as a wav file for closing programs on the computer I had at the time.
3. Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth from the first season of The Apprentice. Although there are certainly other women villains on reality television shows, Omarosa is the sole one on my list today.
Obviously a very intelligent and definitely an attractive woman, she brought to mind Leona Helmsley gone reality TV to me. She falls into the category of love to hate in my listing. Her attitude brought "Bitch" to a new state on reality television. "I didn't come here to make friends."
She was the epitome of evil on the show that season, but has had a successful career as a political consultant in Washington. I watched a few shows with her after her infamous Apprentice season -- Fear Factor comes to mind -- and saw a whole other side to her. Since I never was a Fear Factor fan, I admit I watched just to see if Omarosa would eat worms or have them dumped on her. Now I can't remember which happened, but I remember she did it.
4. Evel Dick Donato, the first place winner of the recently completed Big Brother 8, is next on my list. There were times as I watched the feeds that I thought Dick didn't come across as "evel" at all. At times, he was very sweet, entertaining, compassionate, and thoughtful.
But those moments were overshadowed by some of the most vile language I've ever heard on the feeds as he berated and intimidated his fellow houseguests. Sure, it was his strategy, but it's not one I necessarily condone. If I didn't see the tender side of this man, he would be just a reality television villain I just hated, not one I found entertaining.
Dick was entertaining on the feeds. The producers didn't provide the houseguests any sort of activities or entertainment pursuits for almost the entire three months they spent in the house. Watching the feeds was a snooze half the time, but it was often Evel Dick who provided me entertainment in the wee hours of the night.
From his early morning Dick at Night shows for the internet to the more raucous behavior, he entertained me. Of course, I think I would have slapped him upside the head if he treated me the way he treated Jen and some of the others ... but that's one reason I'd never be on a reality television show.
5. Jonathan Baker from The Amazing Race 6. He makes my list because he was so antsy and hyperactive during the show, but more importantly for how he treated his teammate, Victoria Fuller (his wife). While I'm not someone who gets all up in arms and crying for lawsuits or arrests like some folks into reality television shows, I found his behavior inexcusable. I wasn't overly impressed with Victoria as a racer -- she wasn't the strongest ever on the show, for sure.
But he was mean to her, even shoved her at one point. Again, I go into the slap upside the head mode when I think of Jonathan Baker, even more than I do with Dick. That's mainly because I never saw a side of Jonathan I liked. If I had to say something nice about him, I'd probably have to say he has a very strong ego.
Although he's not my "most hated" reality television villain, Jonathan is the one who bothers me the most to this day. Why? His darn website (which should be spelled out in the photo credit here, but his ego won't allow the whole thing to fit) keeps spamming my personal television blog's comments! Argh! I feel haunted. I feel stalked.
6. Mike "Boogie" Malin, winner of Big Brother All Stars and appeared in Big Brother 2.Pardon me while I do my Boogie rant ...
I know he's best friends with Will Kirby, my all-time favorite reality television villain, but...! I didn't like him in BB2 - he was voted out fourth that season and he never should have made the All Stars show! What kind of grown man has the nickname of "Boogie"? Is this guy ever going to grow up? Eminem he's not, so stop with the rapping. It's not cool, it's just silly coming from a white guy like "Boogie" Malin!
While I loved the Diary Room phone call bits with Will on the show, Mike just creeps me out for the most part. He brags about shomances and uses women to move along in the game. Now, I'm all about using people on reality shows, but don't convince them you love them and then mock them over their feelings!
Boogie, you make me slightly nauseous each time I see you. You only won the All Stars season because of Will Kirby. Go away. Go play with Ashton Kutcher in your restaurants or whatever it is that you do. Stay off my television!
7. Jonny Fairplay, real name of Jon Dalton, from Survivor: Pearl Islands is my choice for my own most disliked villains of reality television. As much as I dislike Mike "Boogie" Malin, he apparently has some smarts and is a successful businessman. What is Jonny Fairplay? I just can't think of any redeeming qualities of this guy. His mother might love him, I guess.
But I'd venture to say his not-dead grandmother wasn't too thrilled when he used her death to gain sympathy from his fellow castaways on Survivor.
I can't even think of a nice insult to give the guy. He wasn't entertaining, wasn't a good power player, had a nasty strategy in the game and has annoyed me when I've seen him since. And, on a very shallow note, I don't think he's all that handsome, either! Nyah!
Jonny Fairplay's fifteen minutes of fame should have died the second he "killed" his grandmother for fun and profit on Survivor. Make him go away.

I would recommend seeking out the "Fear Factor" episode which had Johnny Fairplay and Jonathan Baker on it (Victoria is on the show also).
It's very entertaining, I'm sure you'll find new things to dislike about both of them.

I liked Johnny Fairplay. He was my favorite of your villians. I hated Omarosa. She wasn't just evil on the Apprentice but everything she has done in life.

I just saw a VH1 special- "Reality TV Stars: Where are they now?" last night, and actually, Jonny Fairplay's grandmother was very amused that he used her "death" to personal gain. In fact, with his winnings, he went out and bought her a car with the license plate "Dead Gma".

This list sort of sucks. Only Richard Hatch, Omorosa and Johnny Fairplay got any sort of pop culture attention.
Janice Dickinson ("Next Top Model," "Surreal Life") and Puck ("Real World") got way more media attention for being a-holes than the "Big Brother" and "Amazing Race" people.

I watched Reality Stars: Where are they now and realized that I watch WAAAAYYYYY too much reality tv. I knew almost all the people on it!!
My favotire to hate would be Evel Dick with Dr. Will a close second. I absolutely hated Johnny Fairplay and Jonathan. Whenever Jonathan yelled 'VICTORIA', I would cringe. Me & my mom still yell that at each other when we need to get the other person's attention! :-)

Dick's comments had very little to do with strategy. He was still talking about how he wanted to murder Jen when it was just him and Dani in the house, and had no strategic reason to do so.

Fairplay, hands down,no questions asked!! He makes my skin crawl every time I see him. He even out dicks dick!
Aw,come on,people,I love Boston Rob! I think he ranks up there a close second to Dr.Will as a master manipulator. What saves him for me was his obvious love for Amber and the fact that he never talked down or mean to her in any of the things they did together.

If it wasn't for Wendy Pepper, from Project Runway season one, that show wouldn't have gotten off the ground? I mean, come on, she manipulated Kevin Johnn's and Austin Scarlett's exits from the show and then was humbled by the drawing of a moustache on her daughter's picture! I mean, come on, you have to have Ms. Wendy on your list!
