We continue to celebrate Lawsuit Week here at TV Squad, and today's is a doozy: a host of Air America's Young Turks is suing Stephen Colbert for stealing one of his jokes and using it on The Colbert Report.
Cenk Uygur claims that Colbert stole his joke comparing various Republicans to Klingons, and there's video to "prove" it (after the jump). Uygur is clearly looking for a way to get on The Colbert Report and debate this with Colbert and is only doing this for publicity really thinks he has a case here. I wonder if Colbert will respond?
Actually, I could have sworn I had heard Republicans compared to Klingons some place else, a year or two ago, but I can't remember where. Does it ring a bell with anyone else?

the guy's just desperate for a chance to meet the master. anyway, ugyur's clip is not even from star trek - i'm pretty sure it's from gladiator! his joke wasn't properly formed, there wasn't a set up, and where was the punchline? you can't sue over a PREMISE!...sorry cenk, you lose.

Has he actually filed a lawsuit or is he just saying he's going to sue Colbert? Sounds like he's just making a joke.

Less than 6 months ago I think it was that some dumbass Congressman tried to compare Bush and his followers to Klingons without honor and Vulcans without logic. The whole thing was terrible.
And are there any new jokes left? Listen to late night TV and they are use the same jokes.

David Wu, A rep from Oregon said it back in January. There's nothing new under the sun.

This is pretty smart, whether there's any merit to the complaint or not. Of course Colbert will respond -- he loves this kind of thing. Half of his show just consists of him (or his "persona") talking about how others see him, or his semi-imaginary feuds and lovefests with politicians or other commenters and celebrities. He'll get something new to rant about, the other guy will get more publicity, and everyone will be happy.

wow.. that is so lame.
Seriously even I came up with that Klingon Joke when I was watching the debates.
Anyone who has seen StarTrek more then likley put 2 and 2 together when they heard how many times the word 'Honor' was being thrown around. It just sounded to much like a scene out of StarTrek.

Tom Clancy in both Bear and the Dragon and Executive Orders refers to the Chinese as Klingons.

He needs to do his homework. That judge who sued the drycleaner for 65million, lost and even had to pay the other guys legal fees.
