Actress/comedian Molly Shannon, best known for her work on NBC's Saturday Night Live, will join ABC's new series Pushing Daisies for a multi-episode arc set to air late this Fall. The series stars Wonderfalls' Lee Pace as man who can revive the dead (and send them back to Heaven or Hell) just by touching them. He uses his power to find out the killers and collect rewards.
Small spoilers ahead!
Michael Ausiello reveals that Shannon will play a character named Dilly Balsam. Her character will open a saltwater-taffy emporium across the street from Ned's (Lee Pace) Pie Hole.
Also guesting in upcoming episodes is Pee Wee Herman's Paul Reubens, who'll play a character named Alfredo Aldarisio. Ausiello mentions in another column that Alfredo is a traveling homeopathic antidepressant representative/salesman. This can turn out to be hilarious, especially if Reubens puts a touch of Pee Wee in his portrayal of the salesman.
Reubens will make his first appearance around episode 3 while Shannon will show up during the upcoming sweeps. Pushing Daisies premieres on October 3 on ABC.

Well, poor Tim Minear isn't connected to it, so it might actually survive.

HAHA
it's not that, it's just way too crazy, and too different for most people. And to me who likes crazy and different I just don't think it was very well down.

does no one else hate Molly Shannon but me?
Also, doesn't anyone see this sort of thing as too wacky? I loved the pilot but here's hoping the show doesn't crash and burn right out of the gate.
Anyone know if Jim Dale is staying on the show?
