What, Eddie Haskell suing someone isn't enough for you today? OK, how about this: former CBS anchor Dan Rather is suing CBS for $70 million. Also named in the suit are CBS CEO Les Moonves, Sumner Redstone, and former CBS news chief Andrew Heyward.
The lawsuit claims that the network forced him to step down from The CBS Evening News and did not give him enough time on 60 Minutes. He also claims that because of all this, the network aired a "biased" and "incomplete" investigation into the National Guard story and seriously hurt his reputation. New York Times reporter Jacques Steinberg broke the story earlier this afternoon. Rather is currently an anchor on HDNet.
Now let's see if Katie Couric (or Harry Smith, if he's still filling in) reports this story on tonight's show.

Man I hope they drag the whole TANG document fiasco out in the open again. It'll bury what little shred of dignity this faux reporter has left.
On a slight sidebar, does he not realize that highlighting his worst moment as a reporter, one that demonstrated such clear and obvious bias, will only hurt Democrats (who he professes to support) and embolden Republicans for the upcoming election?

Agreed, malren, he is somehow oblivious to the fact that dragging his worst career moment back into the spotlight would further hurt his career and already damaged reputation -- not to mention embolden the Republicans for the '08 election. What could Rather be thinking?

I love it. Shred whatever little public admiration you have, you dumb egotistical bastard. Your fat ego and some seriously sloppy journalism landed you in this mess. Bernard Goldberg must be laughing his ass off. So am I. You won't get $.70 for your lawsuit, you dumb hick.....

Why not just create a $70 million check in Microsoft Word and print it out?

Did you ever stop and think that maybe Dan Rather trusted the team of investigative reporters, editors, and fact checkers that worked with him? Did you ever stop to think that CBS had a responsibility to check the story before it aired, and their decision to okay it cost Dan Rather his job rather than do anything to hurt CBS?
Scape goats are not okay. Maybe some of the people at the White House should take a lesson from Dan Rather and stand up for themselves rather than take the fall for people higher ranking.
And, rank is just what CBS is. Go get 'em, Dan!
