Well, the Emmys have come and gone and for the most part, I enjoyed the telecast. The non-threatening hosting style of Ryan Seacrest infected the whole telecast with a feeling of safety that only served to make the routines of comedians like Ray Romano and Jon Stewart look more edgy.
One of my favorite parts of every Emmy telecast is the presentation of the writers nominated for best variety or comedy show. The Daily Show's use of Alberto Gonzalez and Conan's collection of laborers in his pick up truck made me laugh out loud. By the way, did anyone else notice the look of shock on the face of Conan's wife? Priceless.
The funniest part of the show would have to be when Jon Stewart jokingly awarded Ricky Gervais' Emmy to Steve Carell and then Carell running onstage to accept. I never cease to enjoy seeing great comedians enjoying a truly funny moment.
The worst part of the show had to be the lame Don't Forget the Lyrics sketch with Kanye West & Rainn Wilson. For a guy who fought hard to get back his street cred, Wayne Brady sure has let that cred seep away. Maybe the giant pile of money he got from FOX was worth it.
This week's question...
Who co-hosted The Emmys along with Tim Allen and Dennis Miller?
Bubbalove was the first reader with the correct answer of Kirstie Alley. Congratulations Bubba!

Why didn't you have the God-given common sense to send Brigitte Dale to cover the Emmy's? Just asking.

Was Sally Fields really bleeped during her acceptance speech? I was in thischat and saw it here and wanted to know if it was true.
Also I thought it was awesome how Steve Carrel jumped up to accept the award. I love that guy!

Conan's writing presentation was disappointing. i feel like that type of comedy is more kimmel or carlos mencia. but i didn't see his wife face and now i wish i did. d'oh. i thought colbert and stewart did the best presentation.

Strictly speaking she wasn't bleeped - no one was. The cut her sound and focused the camera on this sort of black disco ball thing they had. At least for American consumption - Canadians saw and heard her say the words "goddamn war."

Sally Field, the Flying Nun, a most surprising star and wonderful actress, has really disapplinted me. No one I respected more until she let it all hang out at the Emmys. This late in the game she should no better, so blessed, so beautiful and she bites the hand that feeds in all ways. Sally reconsider and recommit.
