Like most people, I had to tell a white lie here and there. I think I was pretty good at controlling my facial expressions and body language so not to have people discover that I just told a lie. However, I doubt I would be able to control myself enough when trying to lie in front of cameras and a few million viewers. The idea of a game show requiring contestants to lie is nothing original. Nonetheless, NBC decided to get its own "lie detector" game show. Yep, it seems we, the viewers, will want to watch this type of TV quiz/games in the coming months since FOX and ABC will also have their own "lie or bluffing" game show titled Nothing But The Truth and Duel respectively.
J.D. Roth, executive producer of The Biggest Loser, developed a new quiz for NBC titled The Interrogator. Note that I didn't use the word "created" as Roth took the idea from a format created by Eyeworks, a Dutch company that bought his production company last year. However, he tweaked the original idea to what was presented to NBC.
Variety reveals that The Interrogator will have five contestants face off one another "in a game that involves deception and bluffing in the pursuit of a large sum of cash." Each contestant will be asked questions which could allow them to take a peek in bank safes, one including cash.
But the game doesn't stop there. The "Interrogator" will try to tell if the contestants are saying the truth or not when questioned about what they saw in the safes. This will come to haunt the players at the end of the game when the one with the most points decides which safe to pick.
The premiere date for The Interrogator has not been announced yet.
