The least entertaining duet in historyThis past Saturday, the 59th Annual Creative Emmy Awards were given out and aside from a few exceptions, the winners were no surprise.

The biggest event of the night came when American Idol won its first Emmy ever for "Outstanding Technical Direction." The spectacular "Idol Gives Back" episode was responsible for the Emmy, specifically the duet between Celine Dion and the late Elvis Presley. The honor is of particular interest because it gives AI a break in the second biggest losing streak in Emmy history, 22 losses. The record of 25 nominations without a win is still held by Newhart.

The biggest non-surprise of the night would have to be the award for "Best Original Music & Lyrics" given to the Dick in a Box short on Saturday Night Live. Also no surprise was South Park's win for "Best Animated Series."

Kathy Griffin's Bravo series My Life on the D-List won the Emmy for "Best Reality Program (non-competition)" prompting one of the more memorable acceptance speeches, in which she refused to thank Jesus. "A lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this. He had nothing to do with this," Griffin said. "Suck it, Jesus. This award is my God now."

Elaine Stritch won the award for "Best Guest Actress in a Comedy" for her hilarious turn as Alec Baldwin's mother on 30 Rock and Leslie Caron won "Best Guest Actress in a Dramatic Series" for Law & Order: SVU.

For the men, Stanley Tucci won for his portrayal as an obsessed actor on Monk and John Goodman took the Emmy for his role of a small town Nevada judge on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.
