Edie Falco has been tapped to guest star on three episodes of NBC's 30 Rock. With the success of the new sitcom reaching epic proportions, NBC is doing everything they can to increase the ratings in the second season. Falco is one of many celebrities who are making appearances on 30 Rock including Jerry Seinfeld.
Last season Nathan Lane, Will Arnett, Molly Shannon and Hollywood legend Elaine Stritch all made guest appearances on the sitcom. Arnett will return this season along with Rip Torn and Sherri Shepherd.
No word has been given on who Falco will be playing, but with her appearance spanning three episodes, she can be expected to play an integral role on the show. More importantly, this will give Falco the opportunity to show her skills at comedy instead of the serious drama that she is best known for on shows like The Sopranos and Oz.
A show like 30 Rock is perfect for guest stars because it takes place at a TV show set in New York. This gives the celebrities the opportunity to play themselves as well as hilarious other characters, Also since the show takes place in New York, the script doesn't have to struggle to justify the appearance of celebrities.
With this kind of stunt casting and a bucketload of Emmy nominations, 30 Rock has become a major tool in NBC's effort to reignite Must See TV.

"With the success of the new sitcom reaching epic proportions..."
