Since the last episode of the hit series Friends aired in May 2004, rumors have been flying around as to if and when a reunion would happen. Over the years, there have been reports that some of the actors didn't want to be part of a reunion, at least, not for a while. None of these reports were properly confirmed. However, this week comes the confirmation that David Schwimmer, who played the character of Ross, will not take part in a Friends reunion if there ever is one.The Sun reports that the actor, who was in London for the premiere of his movie Run Fat Boy Run, told the press that if he was asked to take part in a reunion, he would say no. Schwimmer adds "It was ten years ago - and it's time to move on." The actor also announced that, at this point, none of the cast and producers had been approached for a potential reunion.
Personally, even if I'm an avid Friends fan (I probably watched every episode at least 10 times each), I think they should wait a few more years before thinking of a reunion. I would like to see a "Friends: 10 Years Later" type of event. The actors should also be given a few more years to do other projects before being asked to return to Central Perk.
What do you think of this news? Should there be a Friends reunion at all? Would you watch a reunion without Schwimmer?

A "10 years later" peek into what has happened to our beloved Friends would be the way to go, if we have a reunion. I am itching to see them and see what the characters have been doing all this time. Are Ross and Rachel on a break again? Is Joey staying with The Bings? Did Pheebs have kids of her own? But again the reunion must be good, else it would be better to let the images of the empty kitchenplace at Monica's be our last memories of the show.

I loved "Friends," but I wouldn't want to watch a "Friends" reunion. It was the right show, at the right place, at the right time. I miss it greatly--especially with all of the reality garbage on T.V.
I support David Schwimmer in not wanting to return to a role he played for 10 years. Most people don't like to stay in the same job for a decade--it gets boring. And I especially admire some of the ways he's used his celebrity status in a positive way, such as serving on the Board of Directors for the Rape Foundation of Santa Monica.

I still watch the show at least 4 times a month on DVD, and I think a ten year reunion would be awesome. David Schwimmer may have spoken too quickly when saying never, but if he sticks with that response--"The One With Ross' Funeral" seems an appropriate title. I respect his choice to abandon his fans and I'm sure he will respect the writers for abandoning his character. I'd hate to see any member not participate, especially David, but if they have to sacrifice one, well do it anyways. Us die hard fans would like a look into what they would be doing ten years later. Hell, every ten years I'd watch a two hour friends reunion.

Look man, Schwimmer has a lot on his table, he's moved on! I'm sure he'd love to do Friends again, but he's been so busy fielding his countless leading role gigs that he can barely breathe! The guy has risen SO FAR BEYOND his meager role on Friends, I don't know why anyone would expect him to go back to little league on this. Seriously.

Personally, I find sitcom reunion specials to be cheesy and somewhat sad. I loved Friends, and still do, which is all the more reason I can live without a reunion... especially if the entire cast is not on board.

I am a loyal Friends fan, and even suffered through almost 2 seasons of Joey, but I think they should definitely wait until at least the show has been off 10 years before revisiting it. Maybe at that point the cast would be more inclined to accept an offer of a reunion special, since they would all be around 50 at that time and likely not as in demand in Hollywood.

10 years seems like a good time to wait. And trust me in 10 years Schwimmer will be more than willing to do it.
Also a Friends reunion without Ross? Ha! Those Ross/Ranchel fanatics will DIE.

Schwimmer is waiting ten years until he can do a remake of Band of Brothers which was the only good thing hes ever done in his life (and it was only good because hes good at being bad). Its always sad when actors who were huge hits and then never did anything again claim they have moved on. You will always be Ross, just learn to live with it.

I agree with Anna S. Most reunion shows are cheesy - they don't stick with the system the show previously used, they'll throw in too many flashbacks, try to cram in all the same jokes they used before.. I just don't think it would work.
But IF they ever do.. then yes it would be weird without Ross - it would be pointless and add to the lame-y cheesiness that the reunion show would have anyway. Pfft. Leave it be.

Maybe they could kill off Ross and bring in Ted McGinley as Ross/Monica's cousin?
Anyway, why would anyone want to see a reunion show? Let the show ride off in to the sunset and be remembered for what it was. Any reunion show would only be disappointing. These types of stunts only reek of desperation anyway.

I loved Friends, and while a reunion would be cool, it's gotta be a few more years down the road. And it would suck if Schwimmer wasn't on board.

Aaron, your sarcasm is a killer. And to the rest of you who think Schwimmer will never get anything better, you should look into his life and find out that he doesn't intend to come back television. He's been acting in off-Broadway productions and has crossed the pond as well, he doesn't particularly like the limelight. He's doing what he loves, whether or not you believe it's "bigger and better" or whether he's actually good at it. I'm sure he can afford to take this "step down" as you call it, how many millions of dollars do you have to step down from your jobs?

I'm sure the friends fans will be upset with me, but I don't see the cultural impact the series has made on the television landscape that would justify a Friends reunion.

I'm one of the biggest "Friends" fans out there, but I don't want a reunion. It's been pointed out correctly that most sitcom reunions are cheesy and filled with clips of the old shows, and that's not why we loved our sitcoms.
So, as a huge fan of the show, I also vote "No".

Just have the reunion without him and call it "The One with Ross's Funeral."
The show pretty much writes itself...

I recall David Schwimmer insisting he was going to retire from acting and become a teacher, but according to IMDb he apparently has worked since "Friends." I'm not sure which is better for the world.

Regarding the comment about waiting ten years, I'm sure people would be itching to do a spin-off of Friends again with the kids of Ross, Rachel, Chandler and Monica grown up. Oh the shenanigans!
