The new fall TV season is shaping up to be the Year of the Geek (or Year of Sex in the City ripoffs, you take your pick). There are shows about geeky teenagers (Aliens in America), geeky roommates (Big Bang Theory), and geeky action heroes. The last one I would be talking about would be NBC's Chuck.
There seems to be a bit of a buzz surrounding this show. Not the 'Best. Show. In. History.' type of buzz that shows like The Nine and Studio 60 had last season, but something like the feeling surrounding Heroes. In other words, either a huge breakout hit or disappointing failure. Maybe that's why the producers of the show as well as the network are trying to pump it up before its premiere.
One of the ways they are doing this is with a website -- ChucksSecret.com. ChucksSecret gives you the keys to Chuck's laptop to see the email he sees during the show's premiere. The scenes seem to go a bit slower on the website in order for you to get a bigger picture of what was stored in Chuck's brain. From what I could see it looks like a big ol' government conspiracy involving our armed forces.
In addition to the email there are other items to click on Chuck's laptop. You can take a look at what his webcam is transmitting (and, if you click the More Feeds button you can see Chuck Bartowski's Stickcam profile), scan his work stuff, or take a look at some of his photos.
Sure, most of the links on the laptop point to other sponsors connected with the site, but does that really matter when you are trying to make your dreadful work life go that much quicker? I didn't think so.
