Today on TV Squad Daily:
- The truth, according to Roger Ebert, about his thumbs and his contract dispute.
- The ongoing movement to remove Sheriff Lee Baca (from the Paris Hilton jail mess) is pretty much pathetic.
- More rumors on who we can expect to see on Dancing with the Stars this coming season.

Wow, I was actually inspired to comment on all these stories today.
Mr. Ebert…me thinks its time to start looking for another gig. When they give you a low offer, you counter with a higher one, and then they respond by pulling all evidence that you were ever on the show…that means…you’re probably fired. Personally, I give no more Roger Ebert on TV a big thumbs up! I mean, he hated the movie Short Circuit for gods sakes, who hates Short Circuit?!? The man has no soul.
The Baca story is funny because…well…I live in Los Angeles County and no one’s asked me to sign anything. It’s been months, if this guy was really dedicated he could have printed up a mailer all by himself and got more signatures that he did. I think this is a guy who expected everyone to rush to his side and then he’d be the great coordinator while other people did all the work. Didn’t quite work out that way I guess…
Beyond that, I don’t really believe in “recalling” politicians. Yes, we recalled Gray Davis in California but he screwed up pretty royally. I mean, we were having rolling blackouts because there wasn’t enough power. You’d have to look at the newspaper to learn when they were going to shut your power off for an hour (in the afternoon, in July, in Southern California). That’s major screw up territory.
Finally, Mark Cuban…is he really famous to normal people? I know him because he’s (allegedly) an influential person in technology but I wasn’t aware he’d made it to the mainstream. At best, I thought he was one of those “didn’t that guy have his own Fox Reality Show for like a minute…” (Which he did by the way)

I hate to say it Brig, but I'm kinda disappointed.
You didn't mention the utterly pathetic Miss Teen USA contestant that was posted by TVS earlier today.

I was really looking forward to your commentary on that one.

Hey Brigitte of Sunnybrook Farms... Roger Ebert is still alive??? who knew??? And like how can anybody claim credit for thumbs up/down... unless you're like a Roman Emperor...er...er.
Snicker Snicker -- Brigitte spelled it Epert!
That sheriff should hook up with the Judge from the Anna Nicole Smith trial.... They could call it... "Justice is Blind... and Stupid!" Seriously Baca... your 15 minutes ended like an hour ago... let's move on.
I nominate Jim Murphy for 'Dancing with the Stars'... he's gotta be better than Kenny Mane or Jerry Springer!
Okay maybe not.

Snicker Snicker - - Patrick spelled it "Brigitte" rather than "Rebecca".
As for Roger Ebert, you joke about his being alive, but the funny thing is, before I had my morning coffee not long ago, I thought I heard a radio announcer say that he had passed. According to Who's Alive and Who's Dead (http://www.wa-wd.com/), however, he's still very much alive.
I agree with you that he's crazy though, trying to make a claim about the thumbs up thing... I mean, we all have 'em, and you're right about it dating back to the Roman Emperors. Excellent point! The judge ought to laugh him right out of court. I can't believe that the thumb thing is copyrighted! That's absurd!
On the other hand, if the litigation is out there in California... who knows?
I keep begging for LA justice. Let me do time in a mansion, basking by the pool.

Knowing full well that questionable individuals like Patrick are lurking about, did I actually hear you say that "maybe they should point other things up or down for a while... you know it might be fun"? I mean... the idea about the spinner seems innocent enough, as long as it didn't indicate certain body parts that have a natural judgmental propensity for pointing up or down, depending on what's watched. ;) How do you think the TV viewing audience would respond to "Two Bratwurst sausages way up for that sizzler of a film!"
I'm just very surprised that Patrick didn't pick that one up and run with it. (Patrick, you're slipping, buddy. You must be getting OLD like me. You're in danger of having your Creepy Stalker Certification revoked! One more slip like that, and I'll have to report you to NACS!)
As far as my being on "Dancing with the Stars"... you seem to forget, Patrick, my recent camping injuries. While at Camp Horseshoe (in Pennsylvania, ahem!) I sprained my left foot on Monday, stubbed and ripped open the big toe of my right foot on Tuesday, and went hobbling around camp on two sore feet for the rest of the week. The five stitches are out now, but I have yet to return to the dance floor. I'm not likely to welcome some babe doing a flamenco stomp on my big toe any time soon!

I'd like to see Karl Rove on "Dancing with the Stars." I'd like to see him dancing at the end of a rope.

Thanks for the link... I think. I just watched (painfully) the Miss Teen USA contestant from South Carolina respond to the question by Aimee Teegarden about how "recent polls have indicated that 1/5 of Americans can't locate the U.S. on a world map... why do you think this is?"
To which Miss South Carolina responded:
"I personally believe that US Americans are unable to do so, because, is that some people out there, in our nation, don't have maps, and I believe that our education, such as South Africa, and the Iraq, everywhere like, such as, and I believe that they should, our education over here, in the US should help the US, or um should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future, for our children."
God help us all! No wonder America is in such a mess! I left my other comments regarding her response on THAT blog!

Okay I just watched the Miss South Carolina video on youtube and I don't get what all the fuss is about.
Seriously... her coingent point about how not all children have maps is spot on... obviously this is another Karl Rove slash George W Bush conspiracy to 'dumb down' America's uttes! (my cousin vinny)
Her second brilliant point is also correct as it behooves the Imperialist America to educate countries like South Africa and Iraq so that they too can find America on a map when not digging in caves for blood diamonds or dodging car bombs in Iraqi markets and police stations.
Besides... she's hot!

I am addicted to this gal and the video's compression lip-sync. Make it stop! :)
Who cares about thumbs up? How can a hitch-hiking icon be trade-marked for a movie rating? Or a thumbs down (hhmmm...that has been a signal for sentence to death a long time ago) for that matter? But funny, when you said "body part" I immediately thought..well..being a guy...VIAGRA approves! Yeah-pervert at the movies! Um, who really watches At the Movies and uses the opinion of two press lackies for what movie you should watch? (Wonder if they've seen Woman in The Dunes...deep...like the sand pit)
Who was more the attention whore: the sheriff or Paris? Now think..its a tough one...
Mark Cuban is a whack job. He also is behind HDNET and is strong whacko against internet (Intertubes!) and video (Hates Google and YouTube merge). Plus, isn't he a little short for dancing? Oh wait, everyone in Hollywoodland is short...they just use magic to make them look taller!
Patrick=future stalking material, perhaps?

Honestly... you're so full of crap, I'd be surprised if your eyes aren't brown. (It's good if they're brown, though, to match the truck you drive!) ;)
You see? Brigitte DOES read your stuff. Now... BEHAVE!
