I completely disagree with you on that one!

AS awful as the show could have been (never watched it myself, wasn't wuick enough I guess :P) this is irrevelant to this whole think I think.

That was just yet another stupid move from Fox, whether they know it's crap and don't air it at all, or they give it a real chance.

This was NOT a good thing, because it only shows people Fox treats their shows & viewers like crap, it only makes people not want to watch anything new on Fox, not before a second seaosn has been ordered... so in the end, it can only hurt Fox, and good shows they might air for a few minutes before canceling for results of their actions, sometimes refered to as "low ratings"...

You know, shows like Drive, which really deserved a chance if only because it was so new and different from everything else...

FOX ditched it because 2 million viewers is abysmal for broadcast television, and traditionally shows only do DOWN in numbers after the pilot. Episode two probably would have only gotten 1.7 million viewers or so, which would just be an embarrassment to FOX.

what about drive was really that new or that different from all the other serial dramas that were trying to be picked up last year. Sure it was the only one about a secret cross country illegal road race, but i think thats about the only leg they really had to stand on. The show, while a good concept, was poorly planned out, poorly cast, and had no chance of bringing on new viewers with their compicated, no real answers style plot.

The fact it only got 2mill on release shows either the public didn't want it, or the marketing was wrong. I can't fell like defending this show too strongly, as it sounds crap! but the networks should either pull a show before they air it, or commit to it, rather than ruining their reputation. And if a shows is of high quality, e.g. Arrested Development or Firefly, they should stick with it because in the long-term if will find it's audience, maybe not until it hits DVD, but soon enough. Then those shows can be badges of honour on top of the drivel.

Well, question of point of view/taste I guess. I thought the show wasn't that bad actually, had no real problem with the acting, and I don't think it was poorly planned out either.

As you admitted, it was a new concept, it wasn't yet another medical drama or a new serialized show about some kind of (terrorist) conspiracy - well, kind of, but it wasn't the main plot & different than the usual ways.

While Traveler was good, it had the same main characteristics as you find in 24, Prison Break, Vanished, etc
Not Drive. It was different, and action-packed, and exciting! If they'd found a remove to remove/change the sometimes boring talk-while-driving bits it could have been a great series, I think.

Either way, it was a good show and for certain deserved more than 4 episodes to find its place & audience...
And the more they do such things, like this time with Anchorwoman, the less people are go invest in new shows, hurting the networks, the good shows, and in the end us loyal TV viewers...

Actually, I usually hate this type of crap, but being a former tv reporter I found it really fascinating.

You dont need a degree to be a tv reporter - thats no secret, you just need to be reasonably attractive and intelligent, and get some solid on-the-job training.

Which, of course, is a fact that scares the hell out of the current anchor, and it should - because the girl did great by the end of the show, and probably just kept getting better.

seth i 100% agree with you. and it might be why fox was afraid of that to. or was it that the TRUTH had came out.
