So network news anchors Katie Couric and Brian Williams both signed Stephen Colbert's wrist cast, which is now up for bid at eBay. But why didn't the other network anchor sign it, ABC's Charles Gibson?
That's the question some people are asking this week. Both Couric and Williams played along and signed the cast, which Colbert got from an injury back in June. Colbert has made the cast part of his "character's" storyline. Williams even agreed to wear a wrist bracelet on the NBC Nightly News and lived up to his promise last week.
So why didn't Gibson sign it? Doesn't want to muddy up his serious image by doing the show? For the record, an ABC spokesman says (humorously, I assume) that Gibson has an exclusive deal with Jon Stewart to sign his cast. Colbert says that he's willing to break Stewart's arm if it would get Gibson to sign. (Note: the Brian Stelter who wrote the NYT piece linked above is the guy who created and edited TV Newser. He recently left to join the paper.)

This post is really hard to understand. Maybe a couple more sentences and some typo-fixing wouldn't hurt.

I understand that these people who "get paid" to write blogs here have a heavy workload but come on! How hard is it to write a grammatically correct post? It makes me wonder about the validity of the content itself. Hey TVSquad, hire some actual writers!

I have read a couple of reports about Charlie's reasons are he's to stuffy or serious. Did anyone watch GMA? When it was time to be serious he was, when it was time for levity he made me laugh every morning. He speaks highly of family and colleagues and I still remember the day his grandchild was born. He just beamed pride without saying a word. I could not think of a better replacement in the wake of the tragedies at the anchor desk for ABC. He is the reason I find time to watch the evening news. I'm Charlie's girl morning, noon and night!

I guess when you are the dominant ratings king when it comes to basic broadcast world news, your ego multiplies (well, it depends!)
