Sheesh, I guess I haven't checked out Muppet News Flash in awhile, and wound up missing out on some cool Muppet news.
First, a Fraggle Rock album will hit stores in October. There's pretty much zero information on Fraggle Rockin', except that it will contain music from the series. Amazon doesn't even have an album image. Did I mention it's a three-disc set? That's all kinds of awesome.
Even more awesomer than the Fraggle CD is a possible DVD featuring a collection of Jim Henson's earlier work, including short films, commercials, and other pre-Muppet Show goodness. YouTube and Google Video are good places to find a lot of his early work, some of which I've mentioned on this blog before. All the usual legal clearances must be made for the DVD to come to fruition, so here's hoping we see the DVD retrospective sooner than later. Craig Shemin, a writer for various Henson projects, says the DVD could be available in the next year or so. It's nice that the Muppets continued on after Henson's death, but what has been sorely missing since then is a suitable tribute to the man himself. Hopefully this new DVD will be a worthwhile introduction to the man for those who didn't grow up with the Henson-era Muppets.
