We like to complain when networks don't give series a fair chance, so it's nice to see NBC getting behind the new season of Friday Night Lights with such enthusiasm. Teaming with HouseParty.com, the network is sending out party kits to 1,000 Friday Night Lights fans, including an advance copy of the season opener. The season officially begins on October 5 at 9:00 p.m. You can apply for a chance to host one of these parties on September 14 on the House Party site. The party kits will include various trinkets and ephemera, as well as episodes from season one and a sneak peek of the new Bionic Woman series.
This news comes after a recent offer from NBC Universal promising a money-back guarantee to anyone who buys the first season on DVD and doesn't like it. If you're allergic to DVDs, you can also watch every episode of the first season on NBC's site. If you don't like it, you can return the internet for a full refund.
Frankly, I'm sick of hearing myself type about it, but Friday Night Lights really is a great dramatic series. You don't have to be a sports fan to enjoy it, and I'm proof of that. I couldn't care less about football and couldn't tell you how many home runs need to be scored before the goalie can make a touchdown, but Friday Night Lights had me hooked from the first episode. Hell, I'll refund your money if you don't like it.*
*I'm not giving you any money.

I just applied for the house party. At the end of the application process, it states that you'll be notified by August 20th if you were accepted. Guess we're a little late on this one!

Ha! Me too! I filled out the whole app, including 400 words about how FNL had "changed my life" (hey, I wanted that party!) Oh well....
At least NBC is throwing out some lifelines for this show.
