Of course, getting George Clooney to come back would be a dream come true for ER producers, but they are trying to bring back old favorites for the final season (probably) of the hit NBC drama.
So far, only Noah Wyle has officially signed to come back to the show. He'll be on for several episodes, and in the ER not Africa (thank God). But producers have also talked to Julianna Marguiles and Gloria Reuben about coming back, and would love to also grab Eriq LaSalle, William H. Macy, and Laura Innes.
As for Clooney, coming back to the show for a last appearance isn't a crazy, out of the question idea. He already returned to the show for an episode after he left, to wrap up his storyline with Carol (Marguiles). He seems like the type of person who'd be up for it, especially if the show is ending and it's a one time thing.
Of course, the person I want to see come back to the show can't: Anthony Edwards. The show had to go and do something stupid like kill him off.

I completely forgot about that :) I kinda felt bad for the guy, because first they cut off his arm (by a helicopter), then killed by a helicopter. The man obviously pissed off a helicopter :)

If only ER was like old times, that would be awesome! I wish they would do another "behind the scenes" type of show; where there was a reporter doing a report on the ER and was interviewing the doctors and so forth.

I still love ER. I hope it's not the last season. However, I'm guessing that Clooney will never come back!

Yeah this post is all about pulling stuff out your a**.
You took the news that Noah will be back and that they are trying to get the others you mentioned back to GUESS that they MIGHT also ask Clooney, which propably was NOT in the PR release you got.
So little Bob starts playing the "What if?" game and with putting a question mark behind the header it becomes a legitimate question.
So: Is Bob Sassone a big phony?
Probably not. But he might be. Find out yourself during fall here on TVSquad! *buarks*

Clooney came back once before -- and he does owe ER for allowing the transition from "Facts of Life" to "Top 5 Celebrity in the World". And he definitely seems like a guy with a sense of humor.

Bash,
If you would have read the link to the article, you would see he did a very accurate summary of it.......
I am an ER fan who hung on thru several "blah" seasons, but last year ER really came back with a bang. I would rather see them end on a high note, and bringing back our old favorites in the final season should please those of us who stuck with it.

Bash: This site is still a blog, even if it does report the news. How about you take a couple of seconds, get over yourself, and continue your day?

"and in the ER not Africa (thank God)."
I thought the Africa episodes were really good. When they abandoned that storyline and went back to the boring new characters, it REALLY started to suck.

You have to believe that Clooney will be asked in some way, even if only informally. And if nothing else Clooney knows this is most likely the last season and that he should be asked. Perhaps he'll even suggest it himself.

I liked the african episodes too. I thought "There Are No Angels Here" was one of the best episode of season 12, which generally was a mediocre season, in my opinion. I still remember when ER, besides entartainting us, also tried to revive our consciences and our brains. Good times.

This show is so far past its expiration date that nothing could make it fresh again.
However, if this is indeed the last season, hopefully, then it might be worth seeing some of the old gang back on the show, if only to evoke memories on how great it was back in the day with most of the original cast.
But, please, let this show die already. It sucks.

I've been an ER faithful since the beginning - even through the bad seasons...
I'd like to see some of the old folks come back, but I wonder how they would accomplish it? Just passing through, coming to visit... County is being shut down and they want to pay their respects?
That last one seems the most likely...

Anthony Edwards certainly could come back - he could be a vision/angel/whatever you want to call him (think Rescue Me), maybe guiding a new intern or first year. Trust me, ANYTHING goes on tv!!

Dawn: Did you watch the end of two seasons ago and the beginning of this season? Pretty darn good television, if you ask me (and you know, most people.... It also received some decent critical attention, too).

Have never once watched this show.
The only cast member's name that I recognise would be George Clooney and I would not particularly go to watch him perform anywhere.
So I guess when all these luminaries of show biz get together for a final hurrah - I will be watching something else.
Oh well.....................
