Big Brother 8: Executive producer Allison Grodner gives answers

Jen from Bigh Brother 8Big Brother 8 fans, both ones who watch the show and those who are into the 24/7 live feeds from inside the house, have questions on their minds this season. We're talking a lot of questions.

In past seasons, the executive producer was Arnold Shapiro with Allison Grodner at his side. This season is the first one in which Allison Grodner is the executive producer. And, it hasn't been an easy season. The show has a cast of colorful characters, to say the least. There have been dramatic swings of power in the house, as well as drama-filled houseguests.

Allison Grodner was interviewed by EW.com, and I'd like to delve into some of the issues discussed as I know they're also on your mind. Beware -- there are spoilers for tonight's show in both the article linked and after the jump.

Ah, the first question is one which has bugging the live feed watchers. Jen is on a slop restriction due to a deal she made in a Power of Veto contest. For the past few days she's been eating everything and anything. In her mind, it seems she thinks that will get her expelled from the show instead of being sent to sequester. She doesn't want to be stuck in sequester.

Ms. Grodner said that it isn't a penalty nomination situation as Jen is already on the block. It's unprecedented. She doesn't think it's right to penalize her the following week for an offense this week. In the interview, she doesn't go into detail what the punishment will be, but stated it will be shown on tonight's show. If you want to peek, I posted that penalty in my last live feeds update.

Although the Jen breaking the rules situation is probably the one which draws the most interest, she also mentioned that this season has produced an unprecedented increase in the use of the Power of Veto. She credits Nakomis from Season 5 with coming up with a backdoor strategy, but admits it's gotten a bit out of control.

Allison Grodner also said that the rules don't permit houseguests to destroy the property of other houseguests. So, that's why Dick received replacement cartons of cigarettes after Jen destroyed the ones he had. What about the mustarding of Jen's shirt which was vandalism at the direction of the production staff? She claimed it washed out and, if it had come to light who the culprit was, they would have admonished him. Um, okay.

She denied the rumors that a card for America's Player was left out and found by another houseguest. And, she says if Eric completes this week's tasks, he'll be up to $30,000. She said Jen calling Eric Mr. America had absolutely nothing to do with America's Player.
