Okay maybe the five exclamation points weren't necessary, but I thought that they would drive the point across. Yes it is true, the insulter supreme, Simon Cowell, will be leaving America's favorite singing show (no not The Singing Bee) ... in three years.Cowell will be stepping away from his on-screen roles on Idol and the UK's X Factor to work on his music and television production companies. Obviously, there is no word yet on potential replacements. I am hoping for Gary Busey, he seems like he knows how to cut someone down real good.
But why is Cowell leaving? Well because YOU made him. Cowell told The Mirror that there will be no reason for him to be on TV when he turns 50, because the public "will be sick to death" of him.
Shame, shame, shame on you public of the future for not loving him enough to make him stay. You will regret the decision you will have made, when you make it ... in three years.
Kidding aside, although i will miss his blunt but accurate criticism, Cowell does deserve a break and is smart to step out of the limelight before his celebrity gets stale -- I'm looking at you, Kathy Griffin.

Sounds like he just fired the first shot at FOX in a major negotiation to extend the "Idol" contract.
The "Friends" cast and Jerry Seinfeld did the same thing.

If he leaves, Fox can say goodbye to Idol. Fans will tune off and the show's dominance in the ratings will come to a screeching halt. Like him or not, he makes the show and without him, this will be just another talent competition. Fox is not going to let that happen.

I absolutely will NOT watch IDOL without Simon. It would be a boring show.

Jerry Seinfeld was offered huge amounts of money, and turned it down. He has a record in Guinness for "Most Money Refused."

So Simon is leaving, but Ryan and Paula continue to have jobs? Seems a tad backwards.

I hate Simon, but almost every time he commented on a performance I completely agreed.
He's the only judge there that can truly spot talent.
Brutally honest, so you have to love him for that.
He's the only judge to call Sanjaya's B.S. and call out the losers on the net that voted for him.

No reason for him to be on the show in 3 years? Heck, there's no good reason for him to be on the show NOW.
He represents everything that is currently WRONG with the music business.

Who cares! The show doesn't need judges because the with the public voting it is just a popularity contest. The best person has not won American Idol in ANY year is has been on the air. Get rid of all the judges. They're just fluff and stuff. Let the public who know nothing about music or talent run the show as they have. Talent? I don't think so.

The show will be gone without Simon. He is only helping the contestants to know they can't make it or to let the ones who have a chance know what to work on. What's wrong with the truth?
