It's casting drama times two! Heroes casting news is the Paris Hilton of TV news, you just can't go three days without hearing about it. If you haven't heard about it, you must not come to this website often. Just last week, we heard that our favorite superpower drama was adding a little old school flair with some new school brattitude. Forgive me for saying brattitude.
It seems that Kristen Bell of Veronica Mars fame, who stirred up her own drama when rumors said she was going to join Lost and again when she decided against it, will be the newest edition addition to the Heroes cast -- which has now been recognized as its own country.
Potential spoilers after the jump.
Supposedly, Bell didn't join Lost in favor of playing Elle Woods in the Broadway adaptation of Legally Blonde. According to Variety, Bell will be starring as another Elle when Heroes hits the airwaves this fall.
Elle is a sexy, mysterious lady -- sounds a lot like Jessica Collins' character -- with connections to Peter, Claire and Mr. Bennet. Reports say that the character will commit a serious crime when she appears in October, but her true alignment will be up in the air.
Will she be a Suresh or a Sylar?

Well, if this is true, that would be awesome. I can't wait to see her back on the air. She is a very gifted actress.
*cough*
I'd still prefer is she came back as Veronica though. Preferably in a Veronica Mars show but yes, even if it meant the character Veronica Mars on Heroes. She could, uh, you know, solve shit for them and use her brilliant mind to outwit them. A female version of Batman, almost.
Anyway, I hope this is true.

Kirsten Bell returns to TV...
As a woman of MYSTERY...
On my current favorite TV show...
*GEEKGASM*!!!!!!
Sorry for that. Ah had to do it.
Well, it will be fun to see Ms. Bell back on TV, any chance of getting Enrico Colantoni on Heroes as well? My favorite part of VM was always seeing those two interact.
Something to think about during these long dry months of TV hell...

She was the only reason I watched Veronica Mars. I hope they make her character funny and witty in a sarcastic way like Veronica.

God I hope she'll be a cop or private eye. If she has any powers any believability is down the drain for me for I can not picture her in anything else than law enforcement with a tazer and a gun.
Just make her what Veronica would've become - an FBI agent.

This came out of nowhere. I still think that Lost would have been a much better decision career wise. Here's hoping she's a villain, and a bad ass one at that.

Unless she's a newspaper, a magazine, or a book, she's the newest "addition" to the cast, not "edition."
A spell-checker wouldn't catch that, but GOOD GOD, you people need to give a shit about the freaking language that you use to earn a living!

Good catch for Heroes. The show almost automatically inherits the diehard fans from Veronica Mars. Bell definitely has the looks and the talent to bring something special to the show. Lets hope the next season builds to a satisfying finale this time around.

I disagree that Lost would have been a better career move. Unless her character turned out to be one that was key to the big mystery then the likelihood that Jessica Collins would last long on Lost was zero.
Lost as good as it can be, isn't the best show to go on these days when you're looking for longevity. They cast actors for one storyline then once they're done that's it. Consider how many characters that were introduced in the past few years that actually still remain with the show.
Ben and Juliet are the only two introduced lately that are still around. Every other character introduced in the past few seasons have had major story arcs and then they're gone cause their done. And of the ones that stayed like Bernard and Rose, how often do we see them?
Heroes on the other hand has much more potential. They too have brought in characters and then played out their parts and bye bye. But the fact that they're still a relatively new show, now in it's second season, any actor being cast in a good part who meshes with the rest of the cast, whose storyline is good, could easily be blended with the show without suffering from the Paolo/Nikki curse. No new cast members that just don't fit in.
Heroes has managed to juggle a huge cast adequately and they tell several different stories at once, in ways that allow most of the cast to get airtime. Whether that changes in the second season is still up in the air, but it seems unlikely.
Lost on the other hand tends to focus on one character and forget others for long periods of time. And last season all but proved that the audience would prefer to get answers with the known cast rather than having to endure newbies that aren't contributing to the overall storyline.

Let's just hope she's not added as another survivor like Nicki--as in Nicki & Paulo. You know, all woven in like she was there the whole time.

Is anyone getting the feeling that Heroes is going to SU*K next season? They keep adding new characters and they already had too many character to follow. This looks like an extension of the old midseason rating "guest star of the week" crap that the networks pull every year.

Heros had the worst climax in history, so bad.
Plus if they add any other charaters they will run out of actors to play the roles.

Nooooooooo! I loved Veronica Mars and actually enjoy Heroes but god what a major stepdown in writing quality. She's going from prime scripts/style to generic-appeal-to-the-masses-spell-it-out-pop-culture. Argh. Doing Broadway is way cooler than joining the cast of Heroes. Lame news. Hopefully it's wrong.

I am not an avid primetime network TV viewer since about 90% of the shows are horrible and are either spinoffs of other shows (thanks Dick Wolf can you make another Friggin Law and Order garbage show) or ripoff of another networks show succes (see Dancing with the stars,Skating with the stars or an talent based slop show). Heroes is one of the well written shows on network TV that is around. Unlike other people that posted that apparently think that a 4th rated network that had a show that only lasted 3 season was far superior in writing. I don't know who Kristen Bell is since she is not in anything memorable. The beauty of Heroes is that they don't need superstar actors (case in point Eric Roberts). The writing is what makes the show a hit.
Good to see that they are adding to the crew means some older characters will most likely be eliminated and the show will stay fresh and not get stale. Kristen Bell did the right show Lost is a joke amazing how a show that was complete watercooler chat become nothing more than "Wow is that show still on?"

Kratos, do yourself a favor and pick up season 1 of Veronica Mars on DVD. The difference in the quality of the writing is shocking. Heroes is decent for network television but it's slow and maybe a touch over the average level of creativity on network TV. The mediocre acting and directing are typical TV too.

I would agree that Veronica Mars is a much better show than Heroes (and Kratos, I'm a fan of both shows, but there's no question which one is better in my opinion), especially when you compare their freshman seasons. Still as many have said, I just want to see Kristen Bell on air again.
I'm glad she didn't join Lost, not because I don't like the show (I don't watch it, so I can't comment) but because Heroes is a better fit for her career right now. The demographic watching Heroes is similar to VM (young adults, teens) and at least for now the future of Heroes is to be determined. Lost is going to end in two more seasons and doesn't it already have an established set of characters? Also, I did hear that Lost recovered whatever weirdness in terms of story it had going earlier this season but, walking into that is less secure in a way.
I am kind of hoping she doesn't have super powers, again I'd like to see her play a smart and confident woman, but that's me pining for Veronica Mars. If she's a totally different type of person that would be interesting to see too, because if anything Kristen Bell is a great actress.
