Sometimes, even the auditions for reality shows can get controversial.Survivor / Amazing Race contestant Rob Mariano ("Boston Rob") has been holding auditions for a new reality show he's producing called Tontine, and things got a little physical at a recent audtion in San Diego. Seems there was some sort of heckler at the audition who started saying things to Boston Rob. They got in each other's face, and a crew member tries to break up the two, but then all of a sudden Rob punches the guy, and the people filming it "oooo" and "ahhhh." Video after the jump (and check out the comments on YouTube, including a comment from the guy who stepped in the middle of the two and another guy who was auditioning at the time).
You never see this happen at the auditions for American Idol.

I don't know about "all of a sudden" rob punches him. It looked like the situation was being diffused when the guy shoved him once again, to which Rob responded with a punch.
I don't know what the verbal part was that led to this, but the physical part was started by the other guy by first splashing his water bottle on him then shoving him. I say the guy deserved the punch.

I agree. I'm no fan of Rob, but you can hear him telling the guy to "walk away, walk away". Maybe the guy was looking for his two minutes of fame, or the chance to sue someone with some money . But he started it, and got what he deserved.

I'm no fan of Rob......But.....he showed much more restraint than I would have. The guy deserved whatever was black and blue after that....AND..it was all caught on camera so no lawsuit there.......HAH!

There was no "all of a sudden" Lousy reporting, I might be wrong also but... listen to the voice you hear question him from what sounds like it's behind the camera, it sounds just like the Jamaican who instigated Brad Garrett into punching him last week...
Any chance we have some cheap media people out looking for some law suit money?
My Opinion is the guy apparently got exactly what he wanted, he shoves Rob while verbally assaulting him, Rob tells him to walk way 3 times, the guys not leaving till he get the money shot, BINGO... he gets punched twice in the face on video then he's happy and leaves, I'm sure he'll be suing, if not I have a feeling someone else with a little bit of notoriety will be punching someone in the face soon. See the pattern, again listen real close to the voice in the background, this has TMZ photo journalism written all over it.

Go Boston Rob! That guy totally deserved it, Rob told him to walk away and he kept on running his mouth and pushing him, I would have hit that guy far sooner. What sucks is this guy is probably going to sue and Rob will have to pay him... People like that suck!

Boston Rob clearly held his patients intack all the while it seems as though the other guy was looking for a way to get Boston Rob to swing at him. When he did it was clearly in self defense when the other guy went after him again and again. No LAW SUIT HERE except at the other guy who put his hands on Boston Rob if he cares to press charges. He was the assulted one.

Whether you like Rob or not, this guy throws water on Rob, assault, shoves him twice, two assaults. The guy assaults him three times before Rob punches him. I would have dropped him after the water. Then, he takes off like the big mouth pussy he is. I mean he took off like he just got spanked by his daddy. And, if he thinks he's getting money out of it, Rob should counter sue for the fact the guy starting the whole thing. Ruined shirt, job harrassment, verbal assault, physical assault, and I'm sure his llawyer will trump up some other good stuff. Any ways, KUDOS to Rob, because I don't think I could stop until that guy was being carried away.

like Boston Rob or not, we should be looking at what is right and wrong. Boston Rob was provoked by being pushed a couple of times and had water thrown at him, He told the guy to take a walk a number of times. Right and Wrong; Boston Rob has it Legally and the other guy does not but tried. Only in defense did he get what he wanted - PUNCHED.
