Big Brother 8: Nomination Ceremony #7

Amber cries on Daniele's shoulder.

(S08E20) It's day 46 in the Big Brother house and all seems well ever since King Dustin was sacked last Thursday.

Dustin really was a lightning rod for discontent among the house guests and it took him leaving before I was really able to pick up on this point. While the typical strategizing and maneuvering could be witnessed in the background, the house had an overall air of serenity in tonight's episode.

The house guests interacted with one another peacefully, talked out their differences in a calm and collected manner, and some even found the time to get a little frivolous as you'll read after the jump.

All in all, it was a nice change of pace to see some levity after weeks and weeks of crying, bitching, and screaming. I wonder how long the peace is going to last.

I guessed it wouldn't last through this episode, but I was wrong. The lovefest started with the unveiling of the Head of Household room and continued through the nominations.

Daniele's HoH room was strangely devoid of any pictures of her boyfriend, but there was an interesting picture of Daniele, her brother, and Evel rocking some glamorous and frizzy 80's style hair.

Picture of bad hair.
Daniele also received a handwritten note from Nick that looked like a Valentine I would have given the cute girl in class when I was in third grade.

Nick's letter to Daniele

It took a Rune Stone, the help of my wife, a lot of squinting, and a good 30 minutes of "what the eff does that say," but I was able to transcribe nearly all the contents of the letter for you, the reading audience. Hope you guys like artificial sugar because this letter is Nutrisweet

"First and foremost Happy Birthday Blondie. I miss you so much. I know that things in the house are hard but you will persevere because of how strong & determined you are. Congrats on HoH. I'm proud of you and expected nothing less...such a competitor. I miss everything about you, but I got to see your pretty face often so that keeps my spirits up. Simba says, "meow," Joe says "oh my knees," and my parents say, "hello". Tell Zach I say "hey" & to stop fake sleeping. Mwahahahah. You're so beautiful, personable, funny, & intelligent. I can't wait to see you again. Hopefully, there is a Eurotrip (?) lined up in the near future. I'll have my people talk to your people (wink). Then it's Dani + me tonight. 153 to be continued... XOXOXO. Nick, Smitten."

[I just threw up all over my laptop]

Next, we got veritable proof that Amber lost 98% of her brain capacity during her druggie days. We saw an amusing sequence where we learned that Amber did not know the meaning of the following words:

  • Charismatic
  • Superficial
  • Integrity
  • Backdoor - (In the Big Brother sense you perverts)
  • Outed
  • Sub-alliance
  • Perceived
  • Implication
  • Peanut Gallery
Dick said, "he'd be surprised if Amber's vocabulary was above her 8-year-old daughters." Couldn't agree with you more Dick. I seriously think the nations drug czar should make Amber the poster child for campaign against illicit drug use. They could put a video of her on YouTube listing all the "big words" that she doesn't understand and supplement it with some posters of her making the Amber face. I guarantee drug use would drop tenfold.

It turns out that during the late hours of the night, the house guests typically partake in a rousing game of beer pong, a college drinking game that involves tossing a ping pong ball (without magical properties) into a set of cups across a table.

This evening, the stakes increased and we found Daniele and Zach wagering against Eric and Jessica. Eric ended up losing the bulk of the bets and found himself looking way too comfortable in Jessica's checker board dress.

Eric in drag.

He also had to put on a pair of booty shorts. You can thank me later for not putting a picture of it here.

Finally, Dick ended up explaining to Jameka and Amber why he was so obnoxious during the period when he and Daniele were on the block. They seemed to understand that he was trying to ensure he got sent home instead of his daughter. It was at this point that Jameka and Amber figured out that Eric, Dick, Daniele, and Jess are in a secret alliance intent on making it to the final four.

Food Competition - Toga Toga Toga

Food competition.
In honor of beer pong, tonight's food competition ended up being a blown up version of the game. The house guests split themselves up into two teams of four.

Red Team - Eric, Jessica, Zach, Dick
Blue Team - Jen, Amber, Jameka, Daniele

The first group to sink a ball in all 10 of their containers would win food privileges for the week. In addition, if both teams got a ball in a container labeled "Feast", both teams would get to partake in a feast midweek.

It was a landslide for a long time in favor of the red team and although the blue team made a heavy push to get back into the game, Eric nailed the last point giving the Red team a 10-9 victory.

America's Player - Who should Eric try to get nominated?

America must be as annoyed with Amber as I am. They decided that Amber would be Eric's target this week. It ended up not being much of a challenge for Eric because when he approached Dick and Daniele with this suggestion, they already seemed to be leaning in her direction.

Tonight, America will be voting on who Eric should give his childhood stuffed Woobie to. Watching Eric give Dick a sentimental stuffed animal will be hysterical - so make it happen America.

Nomination Ceremony

Daniele pulled Jessica pulled Jen pulled Dick pulled Zach pulled Eric. As speculated last week, Jameka and Amber were put up for eviction.

Here's my question: According to Jameka, God is on her side. According to Amber, God is on her side too. in a game with a solitary winner, can God be on two opposing sides?

God will have to work himself out of this conundrum come Tuesday.

Who would you like to see go home?
