LL Cool J's The Man to hit CBS

LL Cool JAlmost a year ago we reported that James Todd Smith aka Ladies Love Cool James aka LL Cool J was making his return to television. The rapper-turned-actor's new drama, The Man, even seemed to be heading for the fall season lineup.

Then it disappeared from the radar into the deep, deep depths of the TV pilot abyss.

However, according to the Hollywood Reporter, CBS is close to inking a deal to add The Man to the midseason schedule.

The show features Mr. Cool J as an undercover cop who takes care of an orphan boy on the mean streets of Los Angeles. It is produced by CSI's Anthony Zuiker, who has been a solid ratings engine for CBS with his string of CSI spinoffs.

The network is going to retool the show a bit before shooting a new pilot in the fall. Most of the original cast was cut, leaving only LL Cool J and Domenick Lombardozzi on the payroll. Pam Veasey and Peter Lenkov of CSI: NY are in talks to come on board to run the show.

Personally, I am excited to see LL Cool J back on TV. I used to look forward to coming home and watching In the House. It was like Hangin' with Mr.Cooper, but more muscular.
