All casting rumors for Lost seem to have been debunked almost as quickly as they spread.Last week, Isabelle reported on word that Veronica Mars' Kristen Bell and Prison Break's Peter Stormare were being considered for two new recurring roles on Lost. The Stormare rumor got squashed pretty quickly, and today TV Guide's Ausiello is reporting that Kristen Bell won't be joining the cast, either. The reason, he says, is because Bell didn't want to relocate to Hawaii.
Well, shucks. I adore Stormare and would love to see Bell get a gig that'll give her a wider audience.

I think a gig on 'Lost' would have helped boost her visibility and marketability for the next big leap in her career. Great as 'Veronica Mars' was, it never rose above cult show with mass audience recognition - especially for the actors. She would have had a better chance had she both shows under her belt. But I guess she wanted to strike at something even bigger than 'Lost' while she still had some cache from 'VM'.....

Poor Kristen, Hawaii is such a terrible place to work and live.
Seriously though, she's perfect for the show. She should just suck it up and labour through the luxurious vistas for a couple years.

She wouldn't move to Hawaii for a role on LOST. She must be nuts. She said she loved Hawaii on CBS's Late Late Show this past week by the way. And said she would love to be on LOST. Maybe she wasn't really offered the role.

I'm pretty sure that late show thing was just a re-run from a while ago and not "live" or whatever, which could explain that. She might have more important things to do now than she did then.

David- I think they're doing 2-3 LLS a day these days (hence the non-current event specific monolog) but the interview was within the last week (or 2) as far as I could tell.
According to the IMDB her last appeance before this week was in october of 06, long before VM was canceled.

She would have fitted in better then Nicky and Paulo did! :D
Seriously im sad on her behalf, since as #1 pointed out, VM was a great show but it never rose above the cult thing and Lost would have made her a "Bankeble Star" or whatever they call it out there in Hollywood!

What a drag. First Veronica Mars is canceled and then Kristen passes on Lost. Fans of good TV can't catch a break.

Last I heard she wasn't going to be in Lost because nobody actually approached her (or her 'people') and it was a load of internet crap.

Wow, what a shame... but Kristen still has a pretty good at shot at increasing her profile soon-- she's doing Judd Apatow's FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL, and FANBOYS.

I'm glad Kristen passed on Lost. Most people seem to think the move would have been a step up, I would definitely see it as a step down. Kristen was the main character on Veronica Mars, on Lost she would have been one character in an ensemble. Lost is no platform for actors seeking advancement. More power to her for staying the course and not taking the easy option... Also means I don't have to catch Lost to see her =)

Personally I'm glad as I'm not a big fan of hers. Also, I'm not interested in too many more cast members being thrown in the mix (unless it helps tell the story of the island). Waiting until February is hard enough without worrying about new people!
